Is Kemba Walker Hurting the team?

Post#1 » by heyPlayer » Tue Jan 10, 2017 10:12 am

Many people feel Kemba should be an all star, and is the leader of Charlotte. I tend to disagree. Kemba doesn't really play the leadership role of a point guard. He doesn't control the point well enough. In fact you can make a case that Nich Batum is doing a BETTER job at orchastrating the offense than Kemba. One of the problems is that he is undersized and its hard for undersized players to distribute the ball swiftly. He is a great go to scorer in the clutch, but 90% of the time he isn't really running the point as a premier point guard should.

Perhaps it's also the coaches fault for not orchestrating the team well enough. They got some good spot up shooters and Kemba that can penetrate the lane which opens up for shooters. This is a dream situation for an NBA team, but the Hornets aren't a top notch team by any means right now.

So what is hindering Charlotte from being an elite East team? The coach?

Cause I don't get it, they have the recipe to be a really good team. They have almost 4 capable 3 point shooters, Kemba that can drive the lane, and MikeKiddGil is a solid effort player..... Whenever you have 3 point shooters and a go to player, that is a dangerous team in this league....

The answer to the thread title is an obvious no. We play much, much, much better on both ends of the floor, but especially on offense, when Kemba is in the game. Whether he fits your idea of what a PG should be is irrelevant to the question of whether he hurts our team when he is on the floor.
