The last six games, Monk has been hitting his stride:

There has not been a lot of action at the trade deadline this year.

Would anyone here be disappointed if Monk turned into our Jamal Crawford? "6th man" that gives 20-25 mins a night, can play both guard positions and start if needed.

i think that is his future role, but hopefully he is a better all around player than a pure scorer

If Monk turned into Jamal Crawford, that would be amazing. However, Monk is shooting 26.6% from 3 this year and that's actually regressed every year so he's going to have to actually spend some time in the gym and not just turn on the lights in big Paris games.

His overall field goal percentage, however, has actually increased every year.

It seems like his 3pt % has been better lately but I haven’t looked it up. I also think he can drastically improve that 3pt % by being more mechanical with his shots as I see him fading away a lot on them to avoid contact. He should train with Devonte. Malik is our best slasher by a mile.

Monk is starting to come around. I wish he wasn't so darn short but he is playing well offensively lately. He had 2 absolutely ridiculous dunks on Saturday vs the Mavs too. He could be a good 6th man if he can be paired with a big PG or defensive C to cover for him a bit.

Imagine Monk with LaMelo Ball. We'd score so much. And we'd give up so much.

The frustrating part about Monk is that he is so athletically gifted and comes across so confident, but it doesn't translate consistently enough on the court. I hate to casually criticize, but his IG account makes me wonder if he is too caught up in the off court distractions vs. hustling on the court.

He just turned 22 last week, so I'm hoping that we are patient with him and he has a late bloomer rise to his career. The talent and athleticism is there. The last two games, plus the Paris game is enough for me to hold out hope. Jeremy Lamb was similar too.....oozing with talent and flashes, but never consistent enough to be a full-time starter that can be relied upon night in and night out.

Who have we had on this roster recently, outside of Kemba that has shown the finishing ability at the rim that Malik has? Also going back to how our other 22 year old prospects have looked over the years, there really hasn’t been any. I think he’s trending in a good direction and he can really grow the rest of the year.

At the conclusion of today’s game with the TWolves...
Monk is averaging 15.4 points, 4 rebounds and 1.8 assists, 0.8 steals, 0.6 blocks and 2.2 turn overs off the bench so far in February on 48.3/47.4/83.3% shooting.

He is averaging 28.4 minutes a game in February. Not bad offensively other than the assists to turnover ratio.

That's what I have been trying to say the past two years. You do not trade a guy with the "It" factor, and Monk has it.

Monk and Devonte on the floor at the same time works really well. It’s small but it’s so quick and active. At what point do we consider trying Monk as the starting SG?

I do think he should get the chance to start, especially since we are outside of the playoff picture, to see where he can excel the most. I wouldn't have minded him starting over Caleb Martin the other night when Rozier was out. However, I still think his most likely role will be as a sixth man that provides instant offense. I hope he continues showing improvements.

I didn't get to watch the game the other night, but does anyone know the rationale behind starting Caleb Martin over Monk? I can only assume it's due to JB wanting that scoring spark off the bench, but outside of that it's pretty bizarre.

I think that was because Terry was out Monk was played as the primary back up PG.

It is time to start Monk and see what he can do over a month's time. Put him in a position to succeed, alongside Graham and Washington or Batum--not Rozier and Bridges.
