I think it's important to remember that no one here wants to see Monk fail or for Monk to not be awesome. We are all fans of the team and it's in the teams best interest for him to play out of this world and give us the best chance to win every game.

I'm in no way anti-Monk. I'd LOVE him to be all world.

I'm anti-narrative that surrounds him through the eyes of some fans.

I mean, I disliked Morrison very very much from the moment we drafted him - but I would have LOVED to see him kill it for us.

Well you did get to see Morrison kill it. For one game. Against the Timberwolves. That only you and Eric Collins remembers / knows about.

Monk hit all seven of his first seven shots tonight, and all three free throws. A sparkling 21 points in 9 minutes. The arch on his three-pointers was lovely this game, which may mean he is resting up after the long Western Conference tour. He hit some clutch shots late in the game to help hold off Miami, too.

It seems the injury to his right foot or ankle was minor. It hurt, but he did not seem concerned & came back in at the end.

Must be nice not to have to worry about being traded mid-season.

Look at it this way. Terry Rozier is is a better player than Monk pretty much across the board and hasn't missed any extended time due to injury.

I just like watching the guy play. It's more fun for me to follow and root for an individual player during the season than to just follow a team. As I wrote earlier, he looks like a Ninja warrior in a basketball uniform in games like tonight's. It was a big disappointment when he got busted last season, but this year he has finally matured.

Monk has been instrumental in the Hornet's success this year. I think he will continue to shine, just as Rozier has this season. It would be fun to see Malik, Terry, and LaMelo in the same uniform next season, but we fans have no control over that.

I do the same thing for the NWSL, but their season does not start for another two weeks. It's interesting to focus on one player rather than trying to figure out what eleven are doing in soccer, or to just follow the ball, as most people do. In other words, the moving relationship of one player to the team and vice versa.

I can agree with 100% of this.

If Monk continues to play (score) as well has he has been this year, then he deserves to stick around long term (as a 6th man).

As currently constructed, I'd rather see a 3 guard rotation of Melo/Rozier and Monk over Graham. I feel as if a backup PG who can replace Graham's production can be found easier than the scoring punch Monk can provide off the bench. That's all dependent upon contract negotiations as well, but I digress.

Sounds like Monk is out tonight (obviously) and they still list it as a sprain. Was worried it’d be worse. We will definitely need his scoring to close the season out.

Monk expected to be out 2 weeks with a sprained ankle.

Two weeks would mean missing five or six more games. Ironically, the Hornets and Nets meet again in Brooklyn on Friday, April 16. It just depends on how bad the sprain is: there are three grades, of which the first is "Your ligaments are stretched but not torn." Since two weeks is a minimal recovery time, I expect that he has a grade 1 sprain.

Even after Monk returns, he will probably be missing some spring in his jump for a good while.

I am getting the feeling we will get Monk and Hayward back end of April first week of May and then maybe MAYBE get LaMelo back a week or two later. Could be interesting depending on how we’ve managed by then.

Their offensive production is almost identical on a per minute basis. Ive been thinking all season that when Monk hits 3s hes very similar to Rozier. Rozier is a better defender and is a team leader, so he should start, but Monk has been doing a great job keeping the points coming on the second unit.

Everything is almost identical, even down to their shot attempts. There are some small differences in their approach and how they attack, but they really are very similar players in the sense that they are both undersized hyper athletic SGs who love to attack and let the threes fly and this team is perfectly set up to put them in a very defined role that is perfect for that type of player.

If we have to choose between Monk and Devonte, I really don’t see the debate. Monk has to be resigned.

Ya, assuming they both want to resign and are willing to take reasonable contracts, I think the best option at this point might be to resign them both and look to trade one of them later if you need to, but there is no way I would choose Graham over Monk unless Monk just wants to leave or some team offers him a big overpay.

It will be if we don’t have space to sign both. I’d like to have both back since we all know how much it sucks to only have one PG but it depends on the contract demands of both.
