Per NBA cap expert @BobbyMarks42: @hornets are 10th in payroll and dangerously close to that luxury-tax line of about $119.3 million.

Yet people wanna sit here and call MJ cheap. Charlotte is one of the worst markets in the league.

one of the downfalls of ignoring the draft, no cheap rookie contracts as rotation players other than Frank.

1st round picks are on the books for 4 years before their extensions kick in. So just using 1st round picks you should have 10 seasons in total of rookie deals on your books at any one time. Since both of our 2014 guys are gone and we traded our 2016 pick we only have 6 seasons. So the difference is missing on Hairston and trading our pick last year.

Plus, if you don't ignore 2nd round picks, you might get a situation like we have with Bacon where you have a 2nd round pick under contract for 3 years, but one who is a rotation player for at least one of those 3 years.

Also, good cap managed teams might have 1 rotation guy that was picked up off the street on a cheap deal, someone like Graham.

Not to say Cho has done bad job with cap. We don't really have any awful contracts, so that's a big plus.

This is the real problem not MJ being cheap. Plus better drafting and development of talent

Bobby Marks: Charlotte is now $3.3M under the luxury tax after the Briante Weber waiver. The contract for Weber would have been guaranteed if not waived by August 1. The Hornets now have 11 guaranteed and 2 non-guaranteed contracts. – via ESPN

I'm not surprised...I always figured he was who we'd cut first out of him, Graham and O'Bryant

I'm confident Graham is making the team, I'm not sure about O'Bryant.

I remember Kevin Seraphin being a solid big, would he be handy to add?

so are all post players banned from modern NBA for being like Al?

reading about Seraphin, I'm worried he might have the French Diaw curse of enjoying life and not taking basketball too seriously.

like Diaw he used to be very athletic, but he is now too heavy

I'd rather get Tyler Zeller than all of those guys.

With a Dwyane Wade buyout in the works, any chance that Mr. Cho can entice him to Charlotte? It seems like there are a lot of rookies on the team with limited chance to make it or, if they do, to play more than a few games. With the exception of Mr. Monk, of course, although his ankle remains something of a mystery.

I hate Wade with a passion.

The ego management aspect would be amazing if that happened.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

He's going back to Miami. We have no chance to sign him.
