They'll spend most of the year in Greensboro, but can play up as well. Moves don't affect the cap nor the two remaining roster spots.

I dislike Tar Heels with all my being but Paige is a good kid. Welcome to the Hornets, men!

happy with the Paige signing. Don't know a ton about him, but a hungry D-Leaguer is probably better than what MCW showed in Chicago.
Know absolutely nothing about the other guy, except some people on reddit were saying he was a smart defensive center in college, which makes me happy.

Then you should change your id to Mathiang, since it sounds better than Diop.
I hope he gets some minutes to play in NBA this season. We only have Dwight, Cody, Frank, Marvin, and JoB as our big men.

That's more than most NBA teams can boast. Not to mention, I'm really hoping MKG can squeeze in some PF minutes to open up minutes for our wings.

If only they could stay healthy for the whole season, especially Dwight and Cody.

I think we'll still be fine if one of Cody or Dwight goes down for a little while. Neither should be playing big minutes normally, so they should be in good enough shape to play 30-35 minutes whenever it's necessary. Then the remaining 13-18 center minutes can come from Frank or even JOB in a small-ball lineup. Not long enough to tank our defense and at least we'd be getting competent offense from them. Compare it to last season- Zeller goes down and we're suddenly forced to give 48 center minutes to some combination of Hawes, Hibbert, Frank, Plumlee, JOB, and even Tobey lmao. It wasn't so much the fact he was gone (even though that was big) but it was such a massive downgrade from him to anyone else on that bench that it blew up everything on the court. We're not going to have that problem this year even if one of them goes down for 20 games like Zeller did last year.

So is Paige our 3rd Point Guard now?

As a 2-way signing he's more of a fourth point guard, but until/unless we sign someone else he's defacto PG3.

I like these signings, would't mind Paige as 3d pg.

Like both these players. Marcus has mental issues (shooting, confidence, etc.), but has legit PG skills. Is he still super skinny?
As I mentioned in the summer league thread, I like how Mathiang moves in space (good footwork, excellent body control, anticipates well) and he has a solid stroke from the charity stripe. He'll be a good developmental project for the boys in Greensboro to play with.

I really like the Paige signing. He can light it up from downtown, and is a good point guard. Like Cheeze said, he'll probably never be the most consistent guy, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have a role in this league. And, yes I watched his summer league tape this morning and he looked skinny. He'll need to bulk up a little bit. Also, he looks like he's always moving, or always hustling. Some guys get lost in space or seem to get lazy, but he's always moving and can push the ball. I'm not saying he's good at defense, but he's moving his feet, and seemed to be alert when he was the help defender.
I have absolutely no opinion on Mathiang, as I've never watched him play, but like the name for what it's worth

Paige was with the team in Milwaukee. So far, the team has 50 assists to 67 for their three opponents. They have 52 turnovers to 35 for the opposition. Stone was supposed to be the backup to the backup at point guard, but last night, he was out as well. Even so, Coach Clifford never put in the only other true ballhandler on the team, Marcus Paige. He is not really a rookie, having played in the G-League for a season. Kemba Walker desperately needs someone not named Monk to help take care of and distribute the ball. The second team last night was a disaster, and collectively racked up only six assists.
If Paige ever does see more than five minutes in a game, I will start a new thread.
