NBA2k18

Post#1 » by fatlever » Sat Aug 19, 2017 5:33 pm

This year they are adding all-time franchise teams for each 30 teams.

Here is an article predicting the team for the Horncats

https://swarmandsting.com/2017/08/19/charlotte-hornets-2k18-all-time-team-prediction/

My picks - based on best single season at each positions

PG:
Kemba 16-17
Baron 01-02
Bogues 93-94? (really any year from 89-95)

SG:
Eddie Jones 99-00
Stephen Jackson 09-10
Jason Richardson 07-08

SF:
Glen Rice 96-97
Jamal Mashburn 00-01
Gerald Wallace 09-10 (any year from 05-10)

PF:
Larry Johnson 92-93
Anthony Mason 96-97
Boris Diaw 08-09

C:
Alonzo Mourning 92-93 (any year from 92-95)
Al Jefferson 2013-14
Vlade Divac 96-97

Honorable mention (no particular order)

PG: Felton, Knight, Augustin
SG: Batum, Wesley, Gill, Curry
SF: Tripucka, MKG
PF: Herrmann, PJ Brown, Rambis, Marvin, Coleman
C: Campbell, Okafor, Zeller

if you don't want 3 at each position, sub out Diaw for any of Batum, Gill, Tripucka, Wesley or Curry

Here is the team:

Kemba Walker – 86
Eddie Jones – 88
Glen Rice – 89
Larry Johnson – 88
Alonzo Mourning – 88
Dell Curry – 85
Al Jefferson – 86
Muggsy Bogues – 85
Kendall Gill – 85
Baron Davis – 85
Derrick Coleman – 84
Stephen Jackson – 83
P.J. Brown – 83
Raymond Felton – 81
Kenny Gattison – 80

Obviously missing some players. They evidently couldn't get the rights to Mason and Crash.

Mashburn, Divac, Wesley, J Rich, and Hawkins are on other teams but not ours.

Felton, Coleman and Gattison should be replaced by some of the names I just mentioned. Players are on multiple teams so it wasn't a one player, one team exclusion.

The overall ratings for these teams are kind of ridiculous so I pay no attention to them. When it's all said and done, these rosters are editable so ratings and players can be adjusted.

Just saw this on Operation Sports.

Rick Bonnell wrote an article on NBA 2K's All time Hornets team? I'm kind of in disbelief. It must have been an intern right?

Seems odd that Wesley would be on another team when clearly his best years were here. I guess Pelicans were thin.

Sad we can't play with prime Crash again.

Hell yes for GatMan!

Hopefully those who play will just fix the roster by trading adding Mash, Divac etc.. in place of guys like Felton.

Not sure how Dell managed an 85. Seems like his legacy is being raised by being Steph's dad. Dell was good, but not 85 good.

Haven't played 2K in ages. Has the rating system changed again or are some of these legends being overrated? If it's like it was with NBA Live back in the day when a player under 80 was pretty much blah, then they might be on point. But even then.. Rex Chapman an 85? Manute Bol an 82?

Thought that the range of ratings on 2K for a normal team is like in between 65 and 95.

All the ratings are supposedly based off historical bests...so for example Rodman would be a 99 in DReb, Curry a 99 in 3Pt, etc.

Thing is Overall ratings are just a mathematical aggregate of all the other ratings, so they arent completely accurate on the same scale.

But for the All Time teams I think the players are based on the best season they had, so that could make a difference. There are only a few 90+ rated overall players each year. Id say overall the ratings are quite good, but I think they should get rid of the OVR rating myself.

and how is Bradley only 82? Also where is Diop? Would've put him ahead of Brendan Haywood for Dallas, Diop was starting Centre for the team that lost to Miami. In Haywoods best, only full time starting year for Dallas he averaged 5 pts, 6 rebounds and a block in a team that was swept in the first round. Haywoods good years were in Washington.

Diop was the boring/ugly defensive anchor, starting centre on an offensively talented team. He played his role well.

James Donaldson was probably more deserving than both of them to be honest

Roy Tarpley -> James Donaldson -> all the other Dallas centers not already on the 2K team. Even if Tarpley only had one full season where he was great + not suspended or hurt.

Spoiler*

Downloaded Prelude last night - by choosing the Hornets as your fave team, you'll get a glimpse at all the Hornets player models in a practice gym during the course of MyPlayer setup. Looks good. Looks like they updated Lamb, Zeller, etc. and Monk looks good despite some rumbles otherwise.
