I think I'm kind of excited for this season... there's a lot of good teams in the league right now. It just sucks that Golden State is so goddamn good. I mean, if Durant had chosen a different team like Portland or Washington, there would be like 6 or 7 teams that could win the title this season.

I'm cool with lotto changes. Thing is, I don't really have a problem with tanking. I just like seeing better odds for the late lottery teams. I mean, we seem to pick at 9 a lot. The odds of moving into the top-five from there are now 20% instead of 6%.

Although if I had it my way, I'd make the odds for the teams at the very back end of the lottery a little higher. I'd even go further and have both 8th seeds be a part of the lottery. That whole late lottery/8th seed zone kind of sucks to be in. Might as well give them a little extra something.

so it looks like Taj Gibson has added a 3pt shot. This dude always seems solid but has bounced around a bit, sorta rooting for him.

He could be a great vet for Minnesota.

Zach Lowe's Annual League Pass Team to Watch Rankings. CHA drops one spot to 24:
24. CHARLOTTE HORNETS (23)

The Hornets play with rigid, business-like precision that just isn't that fun to watch, aside from Kemba Walker humiliating suckers with jitterbug dribble moves. They slow the pace, run a ton of pick-and-roll, chuck above-the-break 3s, avoid turnovers, grab every defensive rebound, and never, ever, ever, ever crash the offensive glass. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist injects chaos into Steve Clifford's carefully calibrated ecosystem, but he appears to have plateaued.

The side dishes are tasty -- classic jerseys, the honeycombed court, Michael Jordan's hats, and lively commentary. Nicolas Batum is a canny secondary playmaker, and may function as the backup point guard for a shallow group. Cody Zeller and Frank Kaminsky showed a nice chemistry -- Charlotte blitzed opponents by nearly 12 points per 100 possessions when they shared the floor -- and get to work against backups now.

The battle for minutes at center between Zeller and Dwight Howard will be a key subplot. Charlotte collapsed to 3-17 without Zeller last season; his cement picks and energetic dives to the rim mesh well with Walker and Batum. He is fine scrounging for garbage points. Howard is a flashier name who brings more rebounding and rim protection. But is he better?

They started ZBo, Carter and George Hill today.

Yeah, the Kings fans can't figure it out, either. They are hoping it's an anomaly, except for George Hill, who is far from over the hill.

NBA just changed the All-Star Game. Conferences ignored. Captains will draft teams.

I like the all-star game change.

Now if they can actually make players take it seriously.

All star game needs to be a 3 on 3 tournament.

-15 guys each conference. 30 total guys. 10 teams. -5 starters for each team are seeded 1-10 in order of total vote counts.
-Top vote getter in each conference gets a first round bye.
-picks go in reverse snake order (from 10-1) according to votes
-single elimination

I’d watch that.

Lin has dreads. We should definitely trade for him.

Went to the Magic/Mavs game last night in Orlando. Wasn't as impressed with DSJ as I thought I would be (loose handles and suspect decision making), and - god- the Magic are just such an odd team - an ill-fitting hodge podge of mediocre guys making too much money. We dodged a bullet with Biyombo - guy just kind of looks like he's lost his mojo, and - wow - I actually got to see DJ Augustin play again. DJ's stroke is still silky smooth but the poor guy still makes bad decisions with the ball and is an utter flop on D. Strange night of b-ball for me.

The Lakers and the Kings are trying to hit the 2017 record for lowest preseason points scored in a single game.

The Nets will make some noise this season. Cavs should trade the Net's pick as soon as possible.

how you know its the preseason?

Ricky Rubio plays 14 minutes, takes 10 shots and doesn't record a single assist.

Rubio hit 2 threes, I hope he does well for Utah. I hope they smash Boston every time they play them.

Oh ****. That's fantastic. Well deserved, but unexpected.
