This game did no favors in making me optimistic about this team.

I'd be more concerned if this is how we looked with a healthy roster. Even just MKG would have made a noticeable difference. No way Tobias scores this easily with MKG on him.

I'm all for MKG at the four if Marv/Frank keep it up, especially against small-ball PFs like Tobias.

that... was rough. Monk got rookie jitters, and the rest of the offense was erratic and awkward. Detroit didn't play well either outside of Harris, and MKG would've at least got a hand in Harris' face. That's a winnable game that we let slip.

MKG on Harris would have made a world of difference defensively.

I'm still worried about the offense. No Batum + Lamb/MKG/Howard spacing trio in the starting unit could be a real problem. It at least looked like Kemba and Howard made a point to try to get the PnR working, but they were totally out of sync. There were way too many sloppy possessions with little movement/action that ended in isolation plays. Zeller might need to have his minutes staggered to play more with the starters. We also really need MCW to step up and not suck at backup PG.

I would have stuck Buddy on Harris early in the game when he started heating up and seen what he might have been able to do.

Their P&R defence was really good. Stopped a lot of what we were trying to do.

Our turn overs were really really bad.

How many crap lobs were we planning on tossing up?

He's no Miles Plumlee, but that Dwight Howard guy looked pretty good tonight

Really wish we won tonight but I had a feeling this would be a tough one. I think we can survive matchups like this down Batum but not Batum and MKG. Some of our lineups at times were not pretty.

I would say I’m most disappointed in Franks play though. I hope he can bounce back on Friday.

Clifford may need to tinker with lineups a bit here to discover some chemistry. Will be easier with one or both of Batum and MKG back.

My first annoying hindsight move for the season.

I wonder if lakers might have been interested in trading Russell for kaminsky?

Frank ended last season pretty well and look to have some promise as a big, would've fit their rebuild better than lopez

I am a long time Frank defender, but he has to bring more than he did tonight. He was severely outplayed by Ellenson tonight. Frank and Cody on the second unit should not be getting worked by Ellenson and Moreland / Leur, that was extremely disappointing.

Definitely not a great start, but no reason to freak out yet. Monk was bad but I do like how fearless he is out there, he's gonna fire away and try to make plays whenever he has the ball. We really need a guy like that, the games where his shot is on are gonna be super fun. Dwight looked good.

I know Batum isn't a star but he gets way too much criticism. It's so much more difficult for our offense to score when we don't have him

Positives: no broken people, Dwight looked good, Kemba can still score, Stone played well, DET scored the lowest amount of any team that won tonight, we weren't PHX tonight.

I expected way better though.

What faults did you see with our team? Talent-wise I don’t think we were overmatched and we had the best player on the floor.

Stanley Johnson played good.

Here's what shocked me during the game:

1) How easy that could score on pick and roll. In the first half they had a sequence of 3 or 4 actions in a row, where they basically just score a drop shoot (a la tony parker) after a screen...

2) Offense looked weird most of the times

3) Tobias Harris couldn't miss

I'm not worried long term, but we just played like crap. The offense had no flow, no resistance on D, and there were SO MANY TURNOVERS.

Just poor execution over and over.

Well, at least Frank didn't go 0-13 like Stanley Johnson.

I don't understand what the fuss is here. What did you guys expect? The team had to allocate 144 minutes to three perimeter positions and only had two above average players there in Kemba and Lamb to rely on. Guys like Graham and Bacon can do some nice things, yet obviously are out there just to stick to what they can do. Monk had his rookie fits, Stone isn't a real NBA back-up, etc.

It would be odd if they somehow didn't commit turnovers and were just absolutely ready for such a load. Guys like Frank not really contributing from other positions didn't help either.

Kemba going for like 40 was pretty much the only way one injury-riddled middling Eastern team could have beaten the other blah squad.
