Is the 6-8 seed in the East the ideal position for playoffs/draft?

Okay, so hear me out. I know HCA and putting up a lot of wins are great, but I think that there are some smart reasons to tank into a 6-8 seed.
1.) The West is clearly the dominant conference and the 6-8 seed from the East is almost assuredly going to be picking after all the teams in the West.
2.) The East is wide open and there aren't clear cut favorites as years past. The Cavs are the only team that are huge favorites and they are running into a slew of problems themselves already.
Therefore, if we are able to just hang around near the 6-8 seed, our schedule at the end makes it pretty easy to get the spot we want. We'll be able to cherry pick the team we play, while getting the best draft position outside of the lottery.
It's the reason I feel I haven't seen as much urgency from the team so far and the reason I feel like Monk is getting more of a leash than usual from a player that is clunking bricks left and right.
