No thanks. We dont need another SG.

Would have to think its Lamb or MKG or Cody + something for him.

Probably Cody as the Lakers dont need MKG or Lamb.

We're totally dumping Monk for Clarkson.

Rage for years if we do.

I honestly like the thought of adding Clarkson as a combo guard off the bench that we play about 20 minutes. My only fear is that Clifford will misuse him and turn him into what made us all hate Neal. Clarkson is a ball hog lol. I just doubt we have any tradable pieces that I’d be openly willing to trade for Clarkson.

I mentioned Clarkson in preseason as he can play backup point guard off the bench but I'm not sure I want to give up much for him.

I don't want to lose Zeller for him,

Problem is that Im pretty sure wed have to trade Cody, MKG, or Lamb, to match his contract. Theyre all three better than Clarkson.

I don't see it. We better not be trading any of our top 7 or Monk for him. Doesn't make sense to me, because nothing else outside of our top 7 even works salary wise unless we're completely clearing out the end of our bench.

If we were packaging smaller salaries, it would take all of Frank, MCW, Stone, JOB, and Graham in order to match salary to make that trade. And we'd go over anyway signing minimum contracts to fill out the four open roster spots. So unless we're taking a serious L, or giving up on Marvin in order to go small, I just don't see anything that's even possible.

Also that report is a major stretch. Swarm & Sting cites a certain BlastingNews.com as its source. The article is about the Lakers receiving interest in Clarkson from multiple teams. Only farther down in the article does it say that the Hornets are among teams considered to be potential suitors. That quite literally means nothing at all.

Furthermore, Clarkson's a decent piece, but what's the point in adding him? He's a scoring guard, not a playmaker by any stretch of the imagination. Lamb and Monk already cover that need plenty. Lamb is significantly better than him, and Monk is Monk.

The Lakers need to dump Clarkson in order to have cap space next summer. They are going to want expiring contracts or pure cap space for him now. The Hornets don't really have that outside of MCW, so I would have to think a third team would need to be involved if this is anything realistic.

It looks like Cho been interested in trying to get Clarkson for a while now. Rumors been going around since like June and August.

Rough guess Charlotte sends MKG (or possibly Cody) to Phoenix. Lakers send Clarkson to Charlotte and Corey Brewer to Phoenix. Phoenix sends Monroe to the Lakers.

Someone mentioned Marvin and MCW for Randle and Clarkson on reddit and I think it makes a lot of sense for both sides, especially since the Lakers are trying to court Lebron.

I’d take that. I like Randle as a C. He’s practically been the Lakers best and most impactful player in limited minutes this season.

I'd take it too and hope it's part of a plan to move Batum to the bench. We could have a
starting lineup
Kemba, Lamb, MKG, Frank, Howard
2nd unit
Clarkson, Monk, Batum, Randle, Zeller

Randle could play spot minutes at starting pf or center too.

I doubt that a change of personnel will fix what ails this team. Clarkson in my view would not move the needle. His assist% is the same as Michael Carter-Williams.

But his scoring is much better astronomically better than Michael Carter-Williams.

And Clarkson is 6' 5" ... he could fill that Lin-like role of backup PG who can also play alongside Kemba for stretches.

I'm 100% behind trading MKG for Clarkson. It would bring a great deal of balance to the roster. Lamb could start. Clarkson/Cody/Frank/2 wings of choice could work fine from the bench.

Trading Marv or Cody is tougher for me. Marv is playing well and Frank hasn't looked like a starter. Cody just plays well with various guys in including Kemba ... but realistically if Cody is the one traded, then Frank would get to move to center.

Marv and MCW for Randle and Clarkson scares me. The team would be really dependent on either Frank turning things around or Randle fitting as a starter. I really don't think that this version happens though. The Lakers really want to free up cap space to be able to sign 2 max players. They really feel like they can be in the hunt for some of the big names next year.

I’d trade Batum before MKG. I’d be very wary about trading MKG because then we won’t have not one above average wing defender. MKG has made his opponents shoot 8% less than their normal FG% this season.

I honestly think wed be straight up horrible if we traded MKG for Clarkson. I cant imagine us making the playoffs in that scenario. Wed be trading our best defender for a mediocre chucker. Trading Cody would also be bad, bit it wouldnt hurt as bad because of our roster construction.
