Marvin Bagley at 3 is a crime against humanity. Duke homerism is showing

I'm not a Duke fan, but voted for Bagley over JJJ. I think JJJ is going to bust at the next level and I don't want him. I voted for Porter, though it's a though pick for either him or Bamba here.

And anti Duke fans will complain about what I believe is the correct decision in this vote, though we all have our opinions. Bagley is a better player than JJJ at this point even though he came to college a year early. Both have things to work on in their game, and from what I have seen, I trust Bagley to fix his issues more than JJJ. Bagley improved his jump shot a lot and will continue to do so. At this point, if he learns to play on the defensive end, he will be an absolute star, and he has more than enough athleticism to become a very good defender. Bagley will walk into the NBA with the quickest explosion in the league on second and third bounces off the floor on rebounds. JJJ needs to improve his IQ and have better awareness. Izzo didn't trust him to finish many, and many times he was in foul trouble due to silly unnecessary fouls committed. I trust a great athlete to become a very good defender over a player to improve his mental game. JJJ has a very high ceiling, but also a very low floor.

JJJ is closer to 2nd than 4th, Bagley is a top 5 guy though so it's whatever.

JJJ likely has the highest floor of all the bigs in this draft. He has great size, mobility, and shooting touch. Bagley and Ayton are guys who might project to be shooters where as JJJ shot 40% from 3 at a decent clip. He's also easily the best defender out of Bagley, Ayton, and Carter. His ability to defend in space makes him more useful than Bamba as well. You could argue his best projected outcome is lower than Ayton, but arguing that he will bust doesn't make much sense.

J3 is well prepared for the grind of the NBA. His Dad was undrafted but played over a decade in the league and his Mom graduated from Georgetown and is the current Director of Operations for the WNBA. There's no way whatsoever he'll be a complete bust, he's one of the two or three safest players projected to go in the lottery.
