I'm not quite ready to go that far, Zeller is pretty important in ways that go beyond the box score, we always seem to go in the tank without him.

I do agree with your general sentiment though, Miles seems like a stud and is probably already our 2nd "most valuable" (what we could get back in a trade) player, hands-down. He's been such a nice surprise, I really hope we finally got our late lotto steal.

First year without Clifford and our coach is talking about moving our rookie along quicker than expected. Nice change of pace from the last five years of Clifford being like "Umm...Well, he (insert Hornets rookie) missed a day of training camp due to illness last week and the veterans ahead of him have earned their spots, so its going to be at least two more years before hes ready to play".

He could have the best rookie season we have had recently by miles if he keeps it up.

It's hard for me to believe that we took Frank and Miles both around the same range in the draft and it's like night/day. At least, we are finally ending the experiment that we invested so heavily in.
The Charlotte Hornets will win their first round series against the Boston Celtics in the 2021 Playoffs

Even more difficult for me to believe is that Mr. Cho declined a bevy of draft picks from Boston in exchange for that spot in the draft. It may not have been as good as Danny Ainge let on, but I bet it was a more than fair offer.

Welcome back to North Carolina, Mr. Kupchak.

“He was the bright spot. He brought a spirit to the game, he’s trying to do the right thing. He talks, he communicates,” Borrego said of Bridges, the 12th overall pick in the June draft.

“He looks more like a veteran sometimes than guys who have been in this league for many, many years.”

“He’s in the right spot a lot of times defensively. He’s got urgency. He gets back on defense and he talks. He really knows his coverages.. I left there feeling really good about the kid we have.,” Borrego said.

Then the coach dropped the hammer.

“I like what I see from him,” Borrego said. “That should send a message to everybody.”

“The plays that stand out to me are the effort: The lack of physicality, the lack of competitiveness, not going after loose balls. We lost six of seven 50-50 balls last night. It all converted into points for them. They had 50 points in the paint.”

“Teams are not feeling us, so we have to be more physical,’ Bridges said. “I want to bring defense and rebounding to this team.”

He’s built for that. Borrego has noticed.

Well good we're far from a deep playoff team so develop Miles and Monk. I think Kemba would actually appreciate that. If everyone were young and hungry like Kemba we'd be elite.

How much longer will it be until Bridges starts over Marvin? I'm thinking right after the new year rolls around, so about two more months.

I give it a couple weeks. JB moves fast. He's already closing with Monk and giving solid minutes to Miles. He jumped right into the MKG at 4 experiment. Marvin's minutes are down.

A long time IMO, I actually doubt it's this year. MAYBE post-ASB if he wants to tighten the rotation but feels like Miles needs more minutes.

Just MHO, but part of the reason MKG turned out the way he did is that he started from day 1. He was the only recent Bobcats/Hornets rookie to do so. Everyone else had a chance to build their confidence by playing against second units. I fully support Miles coming off the bench for a good portion of this year. Not going to complain if he starts, but I like letting him grow into the starter role rather than trying to force him into it just because we all want Marv to have a reduced role.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

I don't know, if Marvin continues to struggle it's going to be difficult to justify a spot for him as a starter. And given the makeup of the roster it makes the most sense to start Bridges in his place. I'd be surprised if Marvin starts the entire season.

Bridges averages 19 mpg. I expect it to go over 20 minutes. Marvin is at 23.6. Miles is closing fast. After the draft, there was plenty of banter about Miles maybe not even cracking the rotation.

Tony Parker called him the real deal and thinks he will make a great pro. What I love is how everyone gets out of the way, from a tweener. That's not supposed to happen unless that tweener is Charles Barkley.

Miles is a perfect PF for the way the game is evolving. Right now talent evaluators, and longtime fans, can consider him a SF and might call him a 'tweener' but they're looking backwards. By the time Miles reaches his prime there will probably only be a handful of PFs with more size/length than him, and those guys will probably be playing a lot of their minutes at C.

That's surprising... but considering he's typically with our bench unit that has gone on some great runs, maybe I shouldn't be that surprised
