Giving this its own thread based on Batum's tweet:

The best backup we've had since Lin by far, I won't complain. He'll be huge in practice helping Borrego to implement his system as well.
We need a player/coach like him, outside of Nic, Marvin, and Kemba this team is still really young. Heck, even most of our coaches are under 50. And he may even provide Nic with extra motivation. This signing isn't about on court production.

Kemba is getting 33 minutes. This is a 15 minute slot. Parker can general that 2nd unit even at his age given the rest he'll enjoy here. Also this is good news for Graham. Parker doesn't have long term aspirations. Speaks highly of Borrego that Parker followed him here. Will be great for the new system. Shows a commitment to development and no rebuild.

He can be washed, still a damn good mentor. I will not complain. As LofJ said he will help Borrego set up his rules and system, could be a valuable mentor to Graham and a great locker room presence. If not Avery, Reke or Smart, not even VanFleet or Exum, than I’m okay with Tony for a year. After it he can join the coaching staff if he wants.

2 years 10 million. Lot of expiring contracts the season after this one, 50 million in space coming off

Surprised by two years. It adds credibility to this organization. He's a hall of famer and NBA champion

Agreed, a hall of famer just decided to finish his career here. It's a nice endorsement of the organization.

Staying below the taxpayer MLE ($5.3M) prevents a hard cap. So either Graham only got two years or the Hornets are hard-capped.

Kupchak turned a misfit into a leader, plus Graham with the second rounders. He used a player that would've made everyone worse and added one who will make everyone better.

Kupchak solved backup PG for the next 2 years and beyond with Parker and Graham. That's a student-teacher match that speaks to conscientious team building. Kemba stays my friends.

Hopefully Batum will be extra motivated this year, it would be huge for the team.

That's a huge perk that should not go unnoticed. Batum hated Dwight and Kupchak really listened. It's important to restore value to Batum's contract. Feels like Batum is a Spur. The vet dynamic is healthy in the way it complements the upside of Monk + Bridges with Walker. Maybe Monk turns into ginobli and Bridges turns into Kawhi. Kemba is the new Parker.

Can't be a coincidence that this happened like an hour after the Dwight trade is finalized and we sign Graham. Feels like some things were in the works behind the signs and this is just the option that we went with / worked out.

Considering our backup PG woes of the past...can't complain about this. He is 36, but he can be solid for 13-15 MPG. Hopefully this will make Batum elevate his game and feel more motivated with his fellow Frenchman here now.

Tony Parker will make the system better along with anyone in it. We can win now while learning a new system. This organization has credibility. We're ready for team play. Move the ball. Share the ball. Force rotations. Create offense. Spread the floor.
Neither Marvin nor MKG fit this new scheme. Kings need a SF after missing out on Hezonja. Let's get them on the phone if we haven't already.
