Question for MKG love dome about his minutes

If the minute allotments at PG and SG are filled, MKG is left with SF and PF.
Assume Batum gets 30 minutes at his natural position. That leaves 18 minutes (SF) + 48 minutes (PF) for Bridges + Marvin + Kaminsky + MKG. Split four ways that's 16.5 minutes each.
I assume you want MKG to get more than 16.5 minutes.
What is your goal for minutes for MKG? And what player(s) play less than 16.5 minutes?

I don't think MKG is gonna be here by October. Borrego won't even bring him up unless specifically asked from the interviews I've seen

I agree. Since there is hot emotion surrounding MKG, I wanted to address the question with arithmetic.

1 - I doubt Batum averages 30mpg.
2 - Not all of Batum's minutes will be at SF.
3 - There is nothing wrong with MKG only getting 20mpg.

Batum could get more than 30. If not all at SF, still none at PG or SG. If MKG gets 20, what player(s) get less than 16.5?

You tricked me into doing a minutes distribution once already.

I survived that presidency. I will survive this one for a few more months.

No clue what to expect w/ our wing rotation this year. But, I'm not sure Miles is ready to take anyone's job just yet.
My best guess
PG: Kemba (33), Parker (15)
SG: Lamb (25), Monk (20), Parker* (3)
SF: Batum (28), MKG (20)
PF: Marvin (20), Frank (20), Miles/MKG (8)
C: Cody (28), Biz/Billy (20)
*some games at end depending on matchup, otherwise minutes to Batum/Lamb/MKG/Monk

This time I'm not letting you touch Monk's minutes. You can still make trades though, to get MKG 20 minutes or more.

I see. Best case in your scenario for Miles is 8 minutes per game. Best case for Frank is 20.
But if they like Marvin + Frank more than MKG, you can give them 24 each, leaving MKG with just 12, or 20 if you want to cut out their lotto pick.

i think we'll see MKG more at 4 than under Cliff. Doubt we see alot of Batum/MKG at 2/3 like under Cliff. But MKG isnt getting benched entirely like MI thinks. He might get traded, but if here he is in the rotation.

Or if you just trade MKG, his minutes can easily be covered by Marvin 24 + Frank 24 + Miles 20. And you still have Bacon able to take on minutes + whatever player you get back for MKG.

Not best case. Early guess at rotations to start the year. There is probably a trade at somepoint (IF) Miles proves he is ready to contribute now. If not, we'll be patient.

So if you want to develop Miles rather than cut him from the rotation, you can deal MKG.
If you really like MKG, you can bench this year's lotto pick.

Or you trade Frank, or Marvin or get value for Lamb now before he hits FA. Lots of options.

Not one or the other. + Injuries will drive PT at times.

They have talked about Miles being ready to contribute now on defense, so he gets at least those 8 at PF. So MKG has 20 at most.
I don't see them looking at MKG for offense over Miles. I also don't see Frank and Marvin at only 20 minutes. That seems a stretch to get MKG to 20.

You can definitely use trades to get MKG more minutes. But it's no guarantee, depending on who's coming back in return.

If the coach is really serious about playing smaller and faster then I would say that Cody is the only big who's probably guaranteed 20 minutes or more a night. If anything miles might cut into the playing time of Marvin and Frank or the other backup centers more than mkg. Despite all his flaws mkg is still the team's best defender able to defend four positions one of the best rebounders and someone who can start a fast break with a rebound and finish at the other rim, something that Marvin and Frank cannot do. The team is clearly committed to developing players so miles will get his PT during the season, I'm just not convinced it will come at the expense of mkg more than others. One thing seems obvious though coach JB does not see either Batum or mkg as a shooting guard. So I think most of those minutes will be filled between lamb Monk Parker and maybe bacon.
