Been completely slammed at work and expect that to continue so I won't be as active this season, but looked up some team stats and found them interesting.
For all this talk about playing uptempo, our pace so far ranks 21st.
We are ranked 7th in TOs (ghost of Cliff is upon us).
Our net rating is top 10 - hmm, top 10 net rating but below .500, where have I seen this movie before...
Our DRB% is ranked 23rd. Cliff is truly gone.

Nic Batum leads the team in minutes.
Kemba is averaging 30; no one else is in the teens.
Miles Bridges leads the team in both FG% and eFG%.

After last night's game, here are the BPM numbers of our primary players:
PLAYER OBPM DBPM BPM
Kemba 11.2: -3.0: 8.2
Lamb 0.1: -0.2: -0.1
Batum: -0.4: 1.5: 1.1
Marvin -2.1: 1.7: -0.4
Zeller 3.3: 0.1: 3.5
Monk -1.0: -2.4: -3.4
Miles 3.7: -0.2: 3.5
Tony -2.3: -4.4: -6.7
Willy 1.4: -1.5: -0.1
Biz -5.2: 5.8: 0.6
MKG 0.0: 3.1: 3.1
Basically, Kemba is playing superstar level ball, Zeller, Miles, and MKG are playing great ball. Tony Parker is killing the team with a -6.7 and Monk is at -3.4. Replacing Marvin in the starting lineup with a better offensive player would make this team playoff bound.

All of the total numbers are going to be a little skewed since we are the only team that has played 7 games thus far.

Even if the sample size is way too short atm, the interesting (and concerning) part of these stats is that we don't have a single guard who has a positive ranking in DBPM. Which means if the shots are not falling, no chance to get any win..
Sorry for the people who are tired of reading me writing about a good two ways guard, but for me it's really what separates the Hornets from the elite. And by two ways guard, i don't necessary mean Butler (i wish, but he would not stay so, no point).

I've increasingly come to the conclusion that the replacement for Marvin is already on the roster in Bridges/MKG. What we really need is a better player to replace Lamb as a starter.
I think Monk is a special talent and the type of player made for today's NBA, but his abilities don't compliment the rest of the starting lineup (yet). He's our 6th man scorer at the moment.
If we can't (or won't) get Butler I wouldn't be opposed to seeing if we could move Lamb and/or Marvin for Kent Bazemore or Iman Shumpert (if he continues to shoot so well).

Lamb/Cody being 17th/11th at their positions despite playing worse than we expected is kind of nice.
Seems Batum's advanced stats consistently show him to be a pretty big negative on offense. He seems to be showing decent defensive impact, which I presume is due to rebounding, sneaky rim protection, and smart team defense, because he sure can't stay in front of anyone with athleticism. Seems like hes probably a backup PF at this point in his career.

Heres how I'd rank our players 1-14 as of right now
1 - Kemba
2 - Lamb
3 - MKG
4 - Cody
5 - WHG
6 - Miles
7 - Batum
8 - Bacon*
9 - Marv
10 - Parker
11 - Monk
12 - Biz
13 - Graham
14 - Frank
What I expect by the end of the season
1 - Kemba
2 - Lamb
3 - MKG
4 - Cody
5 - Miles
6 - WHG
7 - Bacon
8 - Batum
9 - Marv
10 - Monk**
11 - Graham
12 - Parker
13 - Biz
14 - Frank
* - The sample size is too small to put him higher.
** - I'd hope a little higher, but its hard to give him the benefit of the doubt when hes currently slumping so hard.

We've got to be among the worst teams in the league in close games don't we?

So far this season I'd rank them: Kemba, MKG, Lamb, Cody, Willy, Parker, Batum, Monk, Bacon, Bridges, Biz, Graham, Marvin, Frank
By the end, I'm hoping our roster doesn't look like this, but if it does, I'd expect something like: Kemba, Monk, MKG, Cody, Batum, Lamb, Willy, Parker, Bridges, Marvin, Bacon, Graham, Biz, Frank
