Pistons fans hate Andre for some reason but I can't see how a 25-year-old getting 16, 15 and 2 is a bad pickup if we get out of some bad contracts whilst doing it

He can be very impactful when he’s engaged cause of his speed and offensive rebounding but he can become disengaged too easily and too often. He’s always gonna fill a stat sheet though.
I think fans and Drummond are just done with this era of Pistons cause it’s ran it’s course. Maybe a change of scenery helps.

Mitch is probably hesitant thinking Monk is being groomed to replace Lamb since we may not be able to resign him.

If Mitch really think a Monk and Kemba starting backcourt is gonna work after all we’ve seen then he need to be fired now instead of 4 years from now. That was the thesis behind drafting SGA but we missed that boat.

Lets pretend this is true.
We would have to do a follow-up trade for a wing. Probably Cody for someone.

"Verified with two sources in Detroit media, C Andre Drummond is indeed available via trade for the right return. Detroit is trying to upgrade the wing position and add shooting."

I’d assume we’d be getting one of Stanley Johnson or Glen Robinson III or maybe even Luke Kennard along with Drummond in this deal just to make the numbers work and relieve them of some salary.

I do prefer this to the Beal rumors though. Arguably he is better, more of a need and seems cheaper to get.

I would do it. Getting rid of Nic is worth it. He is probably overrated, but Drummond is a top 12 center.

It is a pass for me. Batum has some flaws for sure, but he also does some things well. He has been around 40% from 3 all year. He gets some rebounds and assists. He has a high BBIQ on offense. Really the things he does poorly (no driving in his game, no ft generation, lazy on defense sometimes) I feel I can sort of live with.
Drummond is the same type of player. He does some things well and has some flaws. Rebounding is good and defense looks good on stat sheet with the blocks. There is a reason Det wants to get rid of him though. His free throw percentage is terrible. His BBIQ is no good by most accounts. He doesn't seem to care or like basketball all that much. His true shooting percentage would put his as one of the least efficient players in our offense (51% vs 58% for Batum) so his scoring is not going to help us.
Do we really want a low BBIQ center who wants post touches clogging the lane who shoots 52% from the free throw line. Seems like we tried that experiment last year.
Dwight last year: 16.6 pts 12.5 reb 1.6 blk 57% free throw 2.6 turnover 57% true shooting
Drummond this year: 16.3 pts 14.9 reb 1.7 blk 52% free throw 2.5 trunover 51% true shooting
Dwight had better stats. The extra rebounds don't make up for the drop in free throw and true shooting percentage. We would be better off sticking with Batum. Throwing away Monk and a first round pick makes even less sense.
You can't have that poor a free throw percentage and be a good player unless you are a Shaq level talent. There is a reason the pistons can't wait to trade this guy. Buyer beware!!!! They are tired of him like you guys are tired of Batum for a reason.
