Simple questions.

1- Who is the better prospect?
2- If we had to trade one of them, which one do we keep?

I've only seen a few Hornets games this year, but from the outside looking in I would think Bridges is the better player and prospect.

1. Monk by a mile.

2. Miles. He might have a high floor, his ceiling looks really meh. And his team defense is really embarrassing (as well as his post defense against taller guys).

It's tough to decide. I go Monk just because he can do more on offense that helps everybody else on the floor be better. Bridges looks like he could be a solid 3&D type. Trade Bridges for sure, his value is going to be highest among the league and we are going to need Monk after Lamb(and maybe Kemba) departs.

On a side note, Monk is shooting 90.5% from free throw line this year. This guy can be a sharpshooter, just like Kemba.

Miles has the higher ceiling, imo, so that's who I consider the better prospect and that's who I'd rather keep. I don't think there is a large gap between them though.

My thinking is basically this: Monk is an undersized shooting guard, I honestly believe his best role in the league is to be an offensive spark plug 6th man who can be a lead ball-handler/playmaker for the second unit like Lou Williams or Ginobli. That may sound like weak tea, but I think that sort of player/role is super underrated. Guys like that can help a ton. Miles is a prototypical (in my eyes anyway) PF of the future. He has the size, strength and athleticism to mix it up in the paint while also being able to guard the perimeter, if he can hit the 3 consistently he's going to be a very solid starter for years to come.

With Monk I think we've seen everything he can bring to the table, he just has to do it with consistency. He's never going to be a good defensive player, I can't see a ton of room for growth in his overall game aside from just being his best self at all times. Miles on the other hand has lots of realistic room to improve, he can start shooting 3s better, he's shown defensive tools so it's not implausible to see him being a plus on that end of the floor, he has also been finishing drives much better of late showing some nifty improvisation. In my eyes the best conceivable version of Miles > best version of Monk.

Realistically I would not part with either of them unless it was a deal that gave us a very obvious and immediate upgrade like Beal. Partially that's because I really do believe they'll both be quality players at their peak, but in addition they (and Devonte) represent every bit of potential for internal improvement. It's critical that we hold onto the few prospects we have both in the event Kemba leaves because we'll be giving them lots of minutes on a bad roster and in the event Kemba stays because young guys growing up is our best shot at quickly cobbling together a better supporting cast for the end of his prime years.

Monk over Miles to me. I was very high on Monk entering the draft. I was very blah on Miles entering the draft.

One thing Miles got over Monk is size and defensive potency so that’s that but I doubt Miles will ever be anything more than a role player. Miles career high in PPG will likely be about 15ppg if that.

I can see Monk averaging 20-25ppg in the league easily. He won’t reach his full potential until Kemba is out of his way because Monk will have to play PG or be a 6th man.

I’d keep both and say they both have the same upside; vastly different all star potential type players. But if i had to choose, Miles because it’s more difficult to find a capable wing than guard.

When I see Monk on the court and in interviews, I see a guy with something to prove. He's not satisfied that he just made it into the league or that's he's getting a few minutes here or there. This guy is hungry for minutes, for points, for everything a star NBA player hungers for.

Can his skill match his mindset? That's a big wall to reach, and few players can, but the fact that he seems so focused and energized every time he steps on the court makes me think he's capable of greatness.

I like them both and I think both are already good enough to be NBA rotation players. Miles is better then Monk was as a rookie, but Monk is better right now and being asked to do more in the offense. Neither are great defensively at the moment.

Flashy dunks aside, I think there are more guys in the league who can do what Bridges does than there are that can do what Monk does when they are both playing at their best.

I really don't know. I was Team SGA and Miles has kinda grown on me, but I'm a bit worried about him too. I've been worried about Monk this season until this little run he's been on. I could be convinced into keeping or trading either of them.

Monk has NBA shooting. As much as I like him Miles hasn’t shown a true NBA skill yet.

That said I voted Miles, because I see him as a potential two way player, while Monks lack of D really limits his long term potential IMHO.

I've been tossing over this for most of the season, and even had a dummy spit where i was ready to ditch both, but there has been improvement.

I think Bridges has the most value around the league at the moment, mainly due to his dunking and Monk is finding ways to increase his efficiency. He's a gun who can easily get carried away but he's listening to the coach which is great.

So I'd like to keep Monk and trade Bridges while the hype is high if the offer is good.
Otherwise I'm not against keeping both.

It would be a major mistake of epic proportions to trade either one. We need to hang onto some youth that isn’t trash. Plus I want to see a hornets player in the dunk contest.

I go back and forth on this all the time. Ask me after 3 on Thursday.

I am still high on Monk. He can be an all-star in 5 years. He has to work hard in the offseason. Handle and strength.

Miles has a long way to go. Ask me again in 3 years. I like his potential but wouldn't mind sacrificing him to help Kemba win now, for the right price.

I think Monk has more star potential, but a much lower downside. If he cant score at a good and efficient level he wont make it but if he can put it together he can be a Lou Williams type or maybe even an Eric Gordon. Really good 6th man and maybe a slim shot at being an All-Star a couple times. Can maybe be a top 20 PG though, if he can develop his handle and passing more.

Miles has a lower ceiling, but if he meets that ceiling he will be a player every team can use. Will never be a top scorer, probably will level out in the mid-teens but will be pretty efficient especially if his 3pt shot improves. Should be able to guard multiple positions too. Maybe a higher end of Trevor Ariza and a lower end of DeMarre Carroll. If he doesn't develop then he will be a useful 15mpg hustle player, but will be in the league while Monk probably wont be.
