Frank wanted a buyout before tomorrows deadline, Hornets won't budge.

So he can join Houston and put up great stats and we get heavily criticized.

I dont get it. Its not good to have unhappy players around.

This organization is a dumpster fire.

Bad management. Losing faith in the organization as a whole and especially any belief in Kupchak after the way he handled the trade deadline combined with this Kaminsky debacle.

This is worse than the trade deadline. No one wants anything we have and because they know we're desperate, they always hold all the cards in a potential trade scenario. We'd always have to give up 1.5x what others give up.

This decision, on the other hand, is just stupid.

I dont think so. We couldn't trade him for anything pre-deadline, why could we trade him for something later? I dont usually go this route, but i think its just being cheap.

When Kemba leave this offseason I’ll probably no longer think the myth that Michael Jordan is the worst owner in the NBA to be unfair or false. I’ve watched too many fumbles of front office management and prolonged wrongdoings over the course of my 8 years of fandom to believe otherwise.

Umm...I am 100% not sympathetic to Frank. We don't owe Frank anything other than the guaranteed money we're paying him and if we think there is any possibility that we'd use him or get any assets for him in the future we shouldn't buy him out.

I'm honestly surprised anyone would think otherwise.

We have very few assets to leverage. If we think we might play Frank or might want his contact as filler in a trade, why would we buy him out and waste what little leveragable assets we have?

I just don't understand why we should abandon any potential value we could get out of Frank because he's not willing to be professional.

What if Graham did this? Or Bacon? Or Willy? Or hell even Biz before we started playing him? Buyouts for young players on non-expiring deals don't make any sense. Does anyone disagree?

When you’re belittled to the point where your team has to use a player that you don’t want to play to orchestrate a trade because he likely has more value than the players that you do play that says it all.

There is no smart business going on within the Hornets organization beyond the defaults the NBA has granted them.

This team will be in shambles come July and likely the worst team in the NBA in 2019-20 which may play into their hands if they draft the right player in the 2020 draft but I’l wouldn’t hold my breath in the deep pool of doo doo we’ll be in.

I don't think you answered the question. How does buying out Frank help this team in any way, other than solving the problem he himself is creating by being unprofessional?

Can you give an example of a team agreeing to a buyout to a player on a non-expiring rookie deal?

I don't see the problem with this. If JB feels like Frank could help the team down the stretch if someone goes down there is no reason to buy him out.

I know a lot of fans are discouraged right now but the coach and front office is almost certainly working under the assumption/hope that the team makes a playoff push. If something happened to Biz or Cody (or both) Frank provides a better alternative than any free agent. I would have been fine with trading him at the deadline but now that the time has passed his greatest value to the team is as a possible injury replacement and in that context he beats all of our other options (including Willy, imo).
