I wouldn’t be surprised if he re-signs. I wouldn’t be surprised if he leaves, either.
What’s clear: He wants to win right now. Though it certainly won’t be the only factor, the Hornets’ stagnancy looks like a real negative when Walker ultimately decides.
This is why he will leave, knowing we are really going nowhere in the next 3 years or more. We should have traded him at the deadline for assets when we had the chance. Clubs and owners that fail to realistically see all elements of their teams are doomed to make bad decisions.
It can happen anywhere. Magic and company made a mess of the Lakers situation this season with their clumsy pursuit of AD. It opened up a can of worms on “the king” that publicly revealed how many players really don’t want to play with him and his massive ego.
MJ was determined to get back to the playoffs versus develop an exit/rebuild strategy from this mess his Cho created. Not trading Kemba will mean we get nothing back, slowing the rebuild significantly further.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.
