Big question will be Kyrie. If he stays in Boston, there will be a huge demand for a star PG and Kemba will be the biggest prize there. He's going to get offers that MJ won't be able to match. Endorsements from big markets like LA or NY will blow what he can make here out of the water. I'll feel much better about him staying if Kyrie goes to LA or NY. This is assuming KD is going to NY, which all signs point to.
The Charlotte Hornets will win their first round series against the Boston Celtics in the 2021 Playoffs

Quantifying Kemba's motivations...

93.7% money
12.5% coaching
41.725% location
100.0% winning
98.125% money

I know the numbers don't add up, but numbers don't lie. So the odds of Kemba staying in Charlotte are determined by a complicated quantum equation based on the following criteria:

50% location
50% coaching
100% money
100% winning

There you have it! Simple arithmetic.

Therefore, Charlotte's odds of re-signing Kemba Walker come down to this:

Charlotte meets or exceeds the 50% location criteria
Charlotte meets the 50% coaching criteria
Charlotte meets the 100% money criteria
Charlotte fails to meet the 100% winning criteria

Sigh. I hate numbers.

Pretty amazing that JB just now acknowledges that he is not sure how Batum fits with the Hornets. Should have known early in the season, like most of us on this board, that Batum did not fit at all. Probably cost us a playoff berth by playing him 35 + mins a game with little or no production. Hopefully next year will not be the same.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he re-signs. I wouldn’t be surprised if he leaves, either.

What’s clear: He wants to win right now. Though it certainly won’t be the only factor, the Hornets’ stagnancy looks like a real negative when Walker ultimately decides.

This is why he will leave, knowing we are really going nowhere in the next 3 years or more. We should have traded him at the deadline for assets when we had the chance. Clubs and owners that fail to realistically see all elements of their teams are doomed to make bad decisions.

It can happen anywhere. Magic and company made a mess of the Lakers situation this season with their clumsy pursuit of AD. It opened up a can of worms on “the king” that publicly revealed how many players really don’t want to play with him and his massive ego.

MJ was determined to get back to the playoffs versus develop an exit/rebuild strategy from this mess his Cho created. Not trading Kemba will mean we get nothing back, slowing the rebuild significantly further.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

First off, I hope Kemba stays, but I have a question should he decide to move on.

Kemba has a $18 million cap hold for next year. Can the Hornets do a sign and trade so the trading partner can benefit from the low cap hold?

nope, that's not how that works at all. the only way a S&T makes sense is if Kemba wants to go somewhere that doesn't have the cap space for him. Philadelphia might have to

Thanks...I wasn't sure.

I could see your scenario for Philly. I could also see a team like the Lakers or Clippers signing a different free agent to a max contract, then needing a sign and trade to swap contracts to make cap room

Makes sense, I doubt they'd be in play for the top-tier (Durant, Kawhi, Irving, Klay) so the smart move is to skip them and start pursuit with the next set. Middleton seems like a super long shot though, why would he ever leave Milwaukee (assuming they ante up, of course)?

Its Mavs or Hornets for Kemba. Always believed that.

Perhaps but I would not count out the Knicks. If they get Durant and a great draft pick I can see Kemba looking to go home.

There was talk on twitter suggesting that the Lakers should go after Kemba as well.

TL:DR - he's going to have options.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Zion, Durant, and playing where you grew up or.... staying here. He'd have to be one loyal ass dude.
