Betcha he comes back now, whether that is good or bad in the long run recordwise I don't know. Still, he deserves the $ and it is good to have a franchise star with class and poise.

We should not offer him it. 5 years 180 million is what I offer. A supermax player carries their team to the playoffs no matter who they are playing with. Lillard, Giannis, Harden, would have done that. Kemba isn't on that level.

All true point besides the part about Lillard. He is barely better than Kemba and he should not get the supermax either. Hornets and Blazers are about to get crippled by their franchise PGs

Lillard is the truth man, easily a top 10 player and very clutch. Can shoot it from 30ft out easily. He's what we hope Kemba could be.

Kemba hasn't been able to lead his team to the playoffs but the Hornets gave out or took bad contracts like Batum and Biyombo.

They also didn't hit on some very high lottery picks like MKG, Williams, Kaminsky. Jury is still out on Monk.

If they didn't offer the super max to Kemba, do they have free agents lined up to replace his scoring?

Or is ownership and the fans prepared to go into rebuild for a few years, to shed these bad contracts and keep drafting high, hoping to accumulate talent that way?

On the one hand, it would be good to see Kemba get some of MJ's money. On the other hand, MJ and the fans are starved to be winners, at least return to the playoffs.

But what would be the path to return to the playoffs if they let Kemba walk?

I love Kemba, but he doesn't deserve the super Max. Only like 6 or 7 guys in this league do. Being with a franchise for a long time and being above average should not equal supermax. This same sentiment can be applied for guys like Lillard, Conley, Oladip, etc.

This team is cursed. Seriously...we can’t win enough to get into the playoffs, we can’t recognize our limitations and restructure in a way that gets a return on some assets, we can’t tank when we should tank, and now the dilemma of what to do with our one all-star who is good but not great gets even more complicated.

Would any other team other than a wealthy big market pay Kemba Supermax money? I say no, and maybe not the Uber rich ones either. Will we? Yikes. He’s not worth it, but he will feel he deserves it to stay here.

I say find a sign and trade. Get a young asset and an expensive 1 year player to help us shed salary.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Wait, what?

MKG was a high pick sure, but Williams? Williams who? Marvin? The guy drafted by the Hawks and spent 9 years in the league before joining the Hornets?

Frank was the 9th pick, not exactly a high pick, but talent has been found there in recent years (Kemba, DeRozan, G Hayward, Drummond, Smith/Knox to a lesser degree) so I'll give you that one.

Malik was the 11th pick, now you're getting into serious hit (Klay Thompson, Myles Turner, Domantas Sabonis, or miss (Terrence Williams, Cole Aldrich, Michael Carter-Williams, Meyers Leonard)

Ah, OK, forgot that Marvin was drafted by another team.

He was a #3 pick though.

How many of those guys are still in the league? Im getting old because that doesn't seem like so long ago. Marvin probably shouldn't be a starter but definitely still deserves to be in the league, that look back Marvin wasn't a bad pick but he never had a chance with how good Paul turned out to be.

I just look at it like this:

Deron Williams (3x All-Star, 2x All-NBA Second Team, 2x Olympic Gold Medalist)

immediately followed by

Chris Paul (9x All-Star [1x ASG MVP], 4x All-NBA First Team, 3x All-NBA Second Team, 1x All-NBA Third Team, 7x All-Defensive First Team, 2x All-Defensive Second Team, Rookie of the Year, 4x League Leader in Assists, 6x League Leader in Steals, 2x Olympic Gold Medalist)

immediately followed by

Raymond Felton (he uh... averaged 16/8/4 one season...)

Seriously man this franchise is cursed.

Charlotte's probably had some of the worst lottery luck in the league. But you play the hand you're dealt. I can't say Denver had good lottery luck, or Milwaukee, or even Golden State. They got lucky with mid- to low- lottery picks, even mid first or second round picks. Even Kemba was 8? Just gotta hit when you have your picks, wherever they are.

Cho took his shot at it. And it didn't pan out, so he's not our GM anymore. Mitch now has his turn and he's going to clean house. All of Cho's picks - MKG, Frank, Cody, and his free agents/trade pieces of Batum, Lamb, and Marv are going to be gone within a year or two. He'll keep Kemba and his own picks, Bridges, Graham, this year's picks, and maybe Monk and Bacon since they are young. And they will have to try and build going forward, looking toward 2021.

Honestly, I think Kemba needs his Klay. We need a big guard who can shoot the lights out and guard the other team's best player. We had a light version of the tandem of Courtney Lee and Jeremy Lin the last time the Hornets went to the playoffs. I just want that guy here to pair with Kemba. Kinda like Herro if we can get him to learn to defend even up to a JJ Reddick level.
Who I woulda took:
2022: Duren | 2021: Bouknight, Jones | 2020: Ball | 2019: PJ | 2018: Porter Jr | 2017: Monk | 2016: Damian Jones | 2015: Winslow | 2014: Vonleh, Napier | 2013: McLemore | 2012: MKG | 2011: Knight, Kawhi

http://stats.inpredictable.com/nba/ssnPlayerSplit.php

These stats tell the whole story, Kemba leads the nba in clutch shots and clutch shots2. He needs somebody that is able to create good shots.

Jeremy Lamb isn’t that guy, please do whatever it takes to get Beal or Derozan here. Even if we suck this year, we would have the core of a good team with a ton of cap space coming.

If Kemba does leave, who is your favorite free agent point guard?

If Kemba leaves I hope we make a push for Ball or Fultz, but we will likely try to win and win 30 games next season

None.

I'd be happy to roll with Devonte for a year or two.

Devonte and tank it up.
