Yikes at "that organization". Doesn't sound like a conscious uncoupling to me.

So, out of Kemba's mouth - the money didn't matter.

The decision made b y him was motivated by what he believes to be a better opportunity to win.

Probably in the minority, but not really all that disappointed with the outcome. (Discounting that we should have traded him mid season.) I think it's a win / win for both parties. Kemba is 29. He gets to spend the last 2 absolute peak years of his career on a playoff team with a huge fan following, and we don't have to pay a 6-foot 33/34 year old guard that's lost a step 35 million when we finally shed our contracts. Getting a young player that we wouldn't have the space to sign out right is just icing honestly.

I lost it when he started thanking the Peelers and his mentees. **** this. It's not an exaggeration to say that we won't have a guy (not a player) like Kemba on our team any time soon.

I can't read Kemba's player's tribune piece right now, I'm too sad and still in shock.

Same.

I couldn't watch his SVP interview either. I want to be mad at him for now, I'll unpack it more later.

I still just don't understand. Was he planning to leave all this time regardless of what we offered him? BOS could have easily kept its players and it wouldn't have even been an option for him -- then what? How much did we finally end up offering him? If we offered him that 5/190 deal or right around there, was he going to turn it down and find whatever playoff team could fit him in salary wise? I just don't get how this all happened so fast.

I doubt it happened fast. Kemba likely had things he wanted to see, like making the playoffs, the team getting him some help, and a good offer. He almost certainly had plans on what he wanted to do if that fell through. Everyone knew Kyrie was leaving Boston, so they had to be somewhere on his wishlist if things didn't work out, perhaps as a sign and trade partner before the Al left.
Hope is free.

At this point it's just whatever, it has been surprising how easy it has been for me to not really care at all about Kemba anymore or have any mixed feelings about the prospect of his future success. I 100% hope he and Boston miserably fail, the effort he gave here previously doesn't really change that. I guess my being a fan of his was conditional on him being a Hornet, or at least not joining a franchise with a **** fan base.

I don't hate the dude, but I do hate the Celtics and all Boston teams and have for decades so for me there's really no mixed feelings, I hope this signing blows up in their faces.

Good lord Michel Jordan is getting ripped to shreds in the replies to that tweet.

According to Steve Bulpett of The Boston Herald, the Celtics reportedly would have been willing to trade Irving for Walker over the course of the past couple years. Here's what Bulpett said of that possibility in a recent piece.

One league exec who's dealt with the Celtics even went as far as to tell the Herald he knows for a fact the club would have been willing to trade Irving for Walker during the past two years. If he's right, it would indicate the Celts knew there were issues with Irving's approach to leadership and general ability to help cool the fires of young players whose image might have surpassed their actual abilities following the 2018 conference finals run.

Do we know what the Hornets final contract offer to Kemba was yet?

Do we know if he was planning to leave regardless of how much money we offered?

Yes. I want to know whether or not we could have brought him back or whether he was a goner regardless of what we did. It makes a huge difference to me, both in my feelings towards this organization and Kemba going forward.

With Kawhi going West, it looks like Kemba will have a good chance to go far in playoffs. I think it'll come down to Philly, Milwaukee, and Boston for top 3. Guess we'll see if he would've took us anywhere with some help.
