He came into that Nets game for the first time in a long time playing meaningful minutes and was impressive. His defense was a little better this season too. I’d love to have him back on a reasonable deal as a stretch 4 off the bench. I can’t believe I’m saying that either because I wasn’t one of the ones who wanted him gone after last season.

Agree it would be a benefit to have Frank return on a good reasonable contract but I think he goes elsewhere on a better $ deal. Not huge money at all, but better than we can afford...unless Kemba leaves which I expect he will. Cannot overpay anymore for mediocre talent. Cap is rigid or possibly decreasing slightly over time.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I would rather have him back than Lamb. I think Frank can be had for $5m per or there about. Lamb was at $7m this past season I believe and he’ll likely be getting somewhere in the range of $12-$14 now.

It's time to move on from Frank. He was the wrong pick to begin with. Let it end.

Lol, I'm dying over the comments. At least MJ got that 5 mil cash to play with from BKN. I'm sure that 5 mil couldn't of bought us a player that got us in the playoffs or anything.

Comments do nothing but certify how pathetic this franchise is.

Just stay the course, 43 million in expirings for this coming season is not a bad thing. Mavs basically got Porzingis for expirings

Just have to somehow convert Cody's contract into a 1 year contract this offseason so we can get that number to 55-60 million
I don't support domestic violence. Thanks Miles

Would be amazing if Batum had the year of his life and opted out of his contract to go with mkg, marvin, biyombo. Or attach our first and Batum for an expiring. Thats an insane amount of cap room for us to blow and spend on fringe all star players and win 40 games a year

Since it seems like just about any move we make results in us taking a step back I am completely in favor of doing nothing and letting the chips fall where they may.

Every move we make seems to be the wrong one to this point so I can hardly invest into any scenario.

Do you see Graham starting if Kemba leaves? Doubt there will be a PG available in the range where Charlotte picks (at least one which could start right away), and I'm not sure if the free agent market is great:

Kyrie isn't coming, neither is Russell, Bledsoe. Teague will opt in. Rozier? Resticted.

Dragic could be had, I think, but he's been far from good. Rubio? Collison, IT, Payton aren't great options. You're not gonna bring in Lin again.

What are your expectations?

I'd start Devonte.

Might as well see what we've got in him and throw him in the deep end.

A year ago I would have thought about starting Monk if Kemba left. I lean Devonte now as well.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Emmanuel Mudiay was mentioned here before as a possible replacement if Kemba leaves and I think he's an intriguing prospect. He'll be an RFA this off-season and assuming the Knicks sign 2 max players (hopefully Kemba isn't one of them), then we can probably sign Mudiay.

He's a horrible basketball player. Best fit in in leagues like the Chinese.

If Kemba leaves they will go into tank mode and play a lot of Graham or Monk. Unless DSJ is a cheap acquisition

You know we're going to trade for Mike Conley. MJ ain't ever going to tank again after that seven win season

I think Ian is referring to me cuz I posted this on March 19 in the "If Kemba Leaves" thread:
sign rfa Emmanual Mudiay age 23 away from NYK who will presumably be focused on Dennis Smith, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant
this generation of PGs is 6'5 not 6'1; Mudiay brings size & physicality to draw fouls at game end
look at his numbers this yr not so bad
I'd target EMu to be Charlotte's next PG

Yeah man, if Kemba leaves the struggle is real. You just ticked off a list of guys who aren't coming here, plus less palatable options.
Bear in mind two things: one of this team's issues (for years) has been zero offensive physicality in game winning scenarios. We have no one who can draw a foul or even drive and kick at the end of a game. That has led to predictable easy to defend game end offense and years worth of losing close games. We could use a physical player who can draw and make foul shots at the end of a game so we're not 100% dependent on a 3 pt iso fling
and secondly, the last we saw of Mudiay he was hanging 34 pts on Kemba, just overpowering him with his size, leading the Knicks to a comeback overtime win, one of those stenchworthy losses that contributed to CHA missing the playoffs by one game
But it sounds like you've seen a lot more of Mudiay, so would you mind sharing the scouting report? If Kemba leaves we are gonna have to scramble. So, you're saying best fit Chinese league, does that mean he just doesn't do anything but score? What makes him horrible, are you sure it wasn't just the carwreck called the Knicks, and why do you think at 23 he's not going to get better? Thanks

Watching some of these playoff games has made me believe that strong defenders are pivotal for teams trying to advance. MKG should be movable if we were open to it. Maybe we could get a late 1st round pick for him.
