This is what interests me the most. I see one of three things happening
1. Guys step up, Terry passes, and the offense loses less than we think
2. Things just don't work, in spite of team effort
3. Terry tries to take over Kemba's usage and things go poorly.

If these were stocks I'd be loading up on #3 then I'd just sit back and watch them balloon.

You can’t name me 4 teams in the NBA that this team SHOULD beat. Who is our best player? Rozier, Batum, Zeller, Bridges, Monk, Bacon?

This team will be lucky to get 25 wins in a 82 game season. Quote me on it.

Oh 100%, same here. There's got to be some kind of vegas lines here.

Funny Batum is now In the conversation for best player LOL

Every team in the West is better than Charlotte. The only team they can potentially steal a win or two from is Memphis and even then that team has more talent in Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr alone.

In the East there’s a possibility in beating the Bulls, Knicks, Cavs, and Wizards, but those teams stack up better than us too.

That’s how bad it is.

I think that's fair. That'd be winning just over 30% of their games, whereas the 2011 team won a little over 10%.

I should’ve put quotation marks on ‘lucky’ for emphasis.

I'll say this... the team reminds me more of 2012 than 2011. That team won 21 games, which seems reasonable.

That sounds plausible in the load management era since every team will choose CHA as the team to rest their key players.

Yep. I also think that what SHOULD be our style of play - tons of fast breaks and 3's with more aggressive D, from inexperienced and streaky players may surprise a bit. Those young legs may lead us to a few unexpected victories against tired teams when we are hot that night. Im guessing 25 wins, give or take a couple. Hopefully win the dang lotto and get that stud big man.

I’m predicting 15-20 wins. If lucky 25 wins. If it goes bad (key injuries, poor locker room, bad coaching, incompetent front office management) I wouldn’t be shocked by 10-15 wins.

The Knicks only won 17 games last season and both the Suns and only won 19. This upcoming year’s Hornets team is just as bad as those teams.

If losing means this man can get a real potential at the point and a solid pf/c in next draft, then its all good.

I am wondering what kind of incentive (not 1st picks but in terms of 2nd and young prospect) could be done tomake this happen. Obviously the main winner would be Portland but for the Hornets they could land two prospects with potential (i am not high on Ingram but i like Hart even if his ceiling is probably limited) and a vet that brings intensity (even if he bricks most of his shots) that has a nice expiring contract. New orlans would require compensation, but i am wondering what kind of prospect the Hornets could send (they could use Monk but is his value worth such a move, even though Jrue does not match their rebuild).

We are tied with Memphis for worst odds to make the playoffs.

Take odds with a grain of salt. We can easily make a trade to make this team competitive. Our expirings are worth something to somebody come trade deadline.

That’s wishful thinking but not impossible.

Expiring contracts as trade value is so 2010. The only thing we’ll be trading our expiring contracts for is bad contracts of young players that the other team gave up on with a lengthier term. Of course there will be players with potential. Hopefully Mitch is smart enough to not get duped.

I personally only want picks or fliers on young players like Exum that could use a change of scenery.

Unless Mitch is able to pull off swap scenarios of the Adams & Wiggins variety suggested in another thread, this team will certainly struggle to reach 20 wins. Why? Not so much because of Rozier, who I think will do a decent job in the lead role. Our problem is lots of everything else. Who’s going to shoot the ball AND hit big shots? Lamb is gone, Kemba is gone. Love what Bacon is building into but he’s not a sharpshooter. Batum sucks...can hit shots on occasion, if he takes any. Monk is way too streaky. Miles is not consistent, Marvin is old, and ... well that’s it. Heck even Frank was stroking the ball decent when he finally got PT late last year...and he’s gone. PJ is going to have a slow start to his career due to the foot issue.

Lots of problems. That can be good for a high draft pick. We certainly need several.

They will go into the year with Rozier + Monk + Bacon as the backbone. If those guys are struggling Kupchak will deal expirings for picks if available. If they're breaking out unexpectedly, Kupchak can always pivot and bring in help in the form of players like Adams, Hardaway Jr., Eric Gordon etc. The playoff fringe in the East is so weak, it's not unrealistic that the Hornets reach striking distance of a win-now move. I'd bet against Kupchak bringing in any player with a contract that goes beyond Batum's.
