Favourite Charlotte Players To Watch

Post#1 » by BigSlam » Thu May 16, 2019 7:41 pm

Who are your favourite Charlotte players to watch play? Maybe not your favourite all time players, but the ones who entertained you the most?

I only started following the team when the Bobcats were created 15 years ago, so I didn’t include guys like LJ, Zo, Mugsy, Dell etc.

Mine are:

Miles Bridges
Matt Carroll
Walter Herrmann
Al Jefferson
Jeremy Lin
Kemba Walker
Gerald Wallace

Just recent players.

Al in his All-NBA season.
MKG, when he was a lockdown defender.
Kemba when he isn't going 2-15.

I liked watching Lance from a pure entertainment perspective when he was playing good. Stephen Jackson too.

Feel like a lot of good ones have been said:

Trying to keep it different

Jeremy Lin- he was so good that year

Biz- on his rookie deal he was fun on defense

Gerald Henderson- his midrange was so hot before midrange was outlawed.

In no particular order:

Anthony Mason
Glen Rice
Gerald Wallace
Kemba Walker
Baron Davis
Jeremy Lin

I'm sure Alonzo and LJ were awesome to watch, but I just didn't follow the Hornets much then.
The Charlotte Hornets will win their first round series against the Boston Celtics in the 2021 Playoffs

I'll probably forget a few, but some of my favorites were:

Classic Era:
LJ
Glen Rice
Anthony Mason
Vlade Divac
Baron Davis/Eddie Robinson (rookie year bench unit together)
Chucky Brown
Lee Nailon

Lolcats/Lolnets Era:
Gerald Wallace
Captain Jack
Walter Hermann
Kemba
Miles

I can't really call them favorites, but two other guys I have always appreciated are PJ Brown and Marvin Williams. Neither are/were perfect players but they always give maximum effort.

Favourite Charlotte Players To Watch

Post#10 » by BigSlam » Sun May 19, 2019 2:08 am

McRoberts has been mentioned by a few posters. He’s one I overlooked. He was fun times.

That was a good call by you guys.

I was going to say Jackson - that whole “making love to pressure” and “purple patch” stuff was fun, but it was offset with all the games like that Clippers one and other moments of pure stupidity that made him more frustrating than fun for me.

Same with Diaw.

I also experienced weird enjoyment watching Hollins at times. His animalistic grunts and screams when rebounding or blocking shots in garbage time in massive losses as he flailed around like a frog in a blender always made me giggle.

I even found BJ Mullens enjoyable at times.
his random poster dunk or leading the Bobcats over a Garnett led Celtics. He definitely had fun moments

A guy built for the modern times. Was just a few years too early and a many brain cells too short.

Had the physical profile and skillset to be a fantastic player

YESSS!!! Young, fearless Hendo was so cool. The one who would hit four mid-range Js off that curl, randomly dunk off two feet from outside the paint and damn near hit his head on the backboard when blocking some dude on defense.

We used to argue that hendo was a better prospect than derozan and not seem insane.

would be interesting to watch two games of young Derozan now. the way I remember it, he wasn't much of a creator for himself either. now he's Kobe-like (not to compare the two) in his abilities of conjuring some super difficult J. Hendo never became anything significant as a ball handler.
