The Rebuild Part 2

It is actually a pretty good time to rebuild if Michael Jeffrey Jordan will see it all the way through. LeBron will be retiring in a few years, KD will never be the same again and Golden State is done.

Hopefully they don’t cut this one short again.

6 of the top 10 picks are PG's.
So, one positive in us losing Kemba is we have a good chance to draft another Kemba in a year. But much younger and cheaper.

Who do you guys like - RJ Hampton, Anthony Edwards, Killian Hayes, Cole Anthony, Theo Maledon, or Nico Mannion?
Killian might be one of the most badass names I've ever seen.

I wrote a long post last night about our way forward. To put it simply, we should evaluate every player by the trade deadline middle of year 3, and ask ourselves would this player be of positive value on a max contract. If no, we trade them for future draft picks. If yes, you hope they are of such positive value that they make other players want to come play with them. The value is in + value max contract players and rookie contracts.
With NBA scouting seemingly getting worse the more cracks you have at it the better. The NBA is becoming a microcosm of MLB, where small markets are more like a AAAA league for the big markets. I blame LeBron, he broke the NBA.

Pleasantly surprised that Charlotte did the responsible thing and let Kemba walk as opposed to hamstringing themselves by paying him $200m. Obviously they were fools for not trading him the last two years like several of us were advocating to salvage some value, but letting him go now at least gives them the opportunity to initiate a proper rebuild and someday possibly amount to something.
If they play their cards right, they could have a team poised for a deep playoff run 3-5 years from now, whereas their status quo roster with walker alone eating up $40m in payroll was never getting out of the first round.
*No major Al Jefferson type free agent additions that could propel them back to mediocrity and short circuit the rebuild during years 1 and 2.
*Wait at least until batum and zeller drop off the books to make a splash. And preferably a year after.
*Until then, accumulate top 5 picks and only sign young value players on the cheap who have high upside. 23yo Mudiay fits the bill this offseason. If he can be signed to a multi-year deal for something modest in the 6 or 7 mil range, bring him on board and see what he can do. He has room for further improvement and at worst he's still a solid rotation pg who can be traded. If some other team wants to bid up his services beyond that, then just roll with devonte and a journeyman next season and draft a PG in the lottery
I have no problem watching a 25 win team with exciting young players and a bright future vs. a capped out 40 win team going nowhere so long as Mitch and Jordan let the process play out to its conclusion and don't cut any corners.

Gonna be so much worse than 2011-12 for the next couple years. 2-80 this coming season. Maybe 0-82.

I shouldn’t have sold them short. 3-79 is possible with some luck.

Wouldn’t even be a G-League playoff team. Worst team in NBA history.

This rebuild is going to be forever. Our best assets are our most terrible players because maybe they'll help us tank into a top pick. We don't even have anyone to trade, except maybe trading our expirings for even worse contracts.

This franchise is over. There is no coming back from this.

So, who do you guys like at #1 in 2020. James Wiseman, any good?

You guys are overreacting this team is miles better than the 7 win team. The same reasons why y’all were excited about Bacon, Devante, Miles, Monk don’t change just because Kemba is gone
