I would rather not have any references to Kemba but that's just me. By leading the Celtics to the the ECF, if you mean by the function of being the starting PG you are correct. But Tatum led that team in scoring, Horford in PER, and Jaylen Brown was probably that team's best overall player during that stretch.

Ok now I'm done. :)

I vote Scary Terry.

Needs to add consistency, but at times last year in the playoffs he was a problem.

Had a bad showing in game 7 vs Cavs, but I’m fine with that because he gained experience. How many players have even played for Charlotte that have even played in a game 7 of Conference Finals?

I know that numbers alone don't always tell the entire story, but those assists numbers are a lot more promising and impressive than I would have expected them to be.

The more tape of this guy I watched I realized he may actually be good for us.
He plays better D then Kemba and runs the break better. He takes care of the ball really well.
But, he isn’t as good a shooter and I could see him becoming a total negative if he lets the selfish junkyard dog side dominate.
Hopefully, we get his best efforts and attitude, if that happens he may prove to be a real asset.

I think it's super dangerous to fall into the trap of comparing him to Walker.

I understand your point, they are very different players and people but it will not really be possible to discuss the PG position in Charlotte without drawing some comparisons to Kemba.

At least give the guy a chance...

Rozier was the third best player on a team that made the conference finals. What exactly has Kemba won in an east filled with mediocre teams?

I agree that it's a high prce and Rozier needs to be an all-star to justify the contract, but Rozier has been hungry for this chance his whole career and I wouldn't bet against him.

rozier is a better passer than most give him credit for. He isn't great at it, but he won't turn it over either. The thing with Rozier, and you see it in games he starts...he's very much a rhythm player. Off the bench, Stevens wanted him to score last year and that's why he took a lot of shots in limited minutes. But he never got into the flow of the game, and the shots weren't always the right shots, but we needed his offense of the bench. He needs time to set up plays and be more careful with his shots. I can easily see him going for 18-5-6 next year and if he can shoot 3's around 37-38% the contract won't seem as steep. He still won't be as good as Kemba, but Kemba certainly ain't worth 16 million more than an 18-5-6 guy imo.

The other thing I liked about that playoff run was the low turnover rate he had. A/T rate Vs. Cleveland 6.3-1 vs. Philly 4.4-1 vs. Bucks 4.2-1.

For a guy who was thrust into a big role against some quality teams that is impressive and his shoot percentages all went up too. I am hoping a defined role on a team that needs leadership is going to help him settle in a repeat these outputs more often. If he comes close to his playoff run next year he will be a very good pickup.

Rozier may end up 'better than Kemba' over the length of their contracts if Kemba breaks down and Rozier blossoms, but I don't expect him to ever reach Kemba's peak. Solid starting-level PG play on both ends is what I'm hoping for, someone who can grow with the other young prospects.

Another thing that could be valuable acquiring Rozier over other available PGs, is his 4 straight playoffs experience (since getting drafted) and having to deal with constant revolving of players for the 4 years he's been with the Celtics.

This is kinda where I'm at with it.

Kemba is my favorite Hornet ever, fave player in the league and is 1B all-time for me next to AI. However, we dropped the ball on him with our disrespectful offer and wish him success and hope he gets rings....he deserves it.

Rozier is on a short list of players that we could have gotten to run the point that checks a lot of boxes.... young, hungry, experienced and can score while not killing you in other aspects. I don't agree with the contract, but if he pans out, $18M might be a deal in 3 years. I would've preferred Cook, Payton or Mudiay based on $$, but it is what it is at this point.

I also don't see how replacing Kemba with a less talented version at PG, losing Lamb & Kaminsky would keep us from being in the top-5 of next year's draft. We're still going to be tough to watch and should still land a franchise player in 2020.

Any word on what the considerations we are sending back to Boston are in conjunction with Walker in order to acquire Rozier?

I’m anxious to find this out as well. I suspect it’s a second round type of asset.

Remember what we traded for Theo Ratliff? It’s probably a top-59 protected 2032 draft pick
