If Lamelo could shoot he'd without a doubt be #1

If Wiseman was more aggressive offensively he'd be #1

I agree with this mock. I wonder if there's a way to get both Okongwu and Hayes.

I would rather have Wiseman than Okongwu but I have thought the same thing about doubling up. With people not real excited about this draft is there any way to get OO/Wiseman and Hayes/Haliburton in this draft. I think both bigs and both guards fit our team well and would be great additions to our young core as role players. Then we can use another year to develop everyone and hopefully have a high pick next year and get our alpha player.

The only assets this team has that could possibly return a pick in the Hayes/Haliburton range are PJ, Graham, and our 2021 pick. I don't want to trade any of that. The highest I think we could trade back into the 1st round is with Dallas or Brooklyn by taking on bad salary. Maybe a guy like RJ Hampton would be worth taking a swing on in that range.

I just thought of the 1 thing that could make me just as happy or happier than us drafting Hayes. If we were to use the number 3 pick on someone else and if Terry were to fall to us at 32 and Joe at 56. It is possible because I have seen mocks with Terry in the 30's.

PICK 3 - Deni, Okongwu

PICK 32 - Terry

PICK 56 - Joe

and maybe a future 1st if we were to trade back. This would be awesome with a capital B lol.

32 - Isaiah Joe, Jay Scrubb, Ty'shon Alexander, Karim Mane, CJ Elleby, Elijah Hughes

The 2021 class looks to be stacked. If even anything I'd rather more back and get a 2021 (top something protected) than trade it away and get two guys.

Wiseman would likely be a better drop coverage defender but Okongwu would be better in basically any other system. Watching how Miami has succeeded makes me think they are the game plan to follow. No top 10 guys (sorry Jimmy) but all pieces fit and they work as a unit. Having a switch big who can also guard bigger 5s in the paint is so valuable for flexibility. Picking Wiseman forces you to have top notch wing defenders which clearly doesn't fit with Miles.

Miles + Batum expiring should provide that kind of return, especially if there are good news with the salary cap/luxury cap talks/decisions.

A team like Charlotte should give a try to 2 ways contract wings like Hoard (Portland). Especially Hoard since Jordan saw him play in some youth tournament.
Considering Dort and couple others, you take almost no risk and you can get pretty good value if things click.

I still think Kupchak should play safe and make sure to get positive value of all picks. Adding one middle 1st would really be nice, especially if a guy like Vassell drops a bit (for instance). Anything that can give a chance to get more good picks in 2021/2022 drafts (knowing most Gm's are probably thinking the same) should be the goal though. either to have two lottery picks, either to move up in case of bad luck or stupid season.
No idea if something can be done with Boston again, but they are the only really realistic option that does not involve swallowing a bad contract for poor assets. I just hope Kupchak wont gamble with western conference picks considering the mess that could be next season there (i mean at the bottom). Even the suns and Minny should be play offs candidates.

Yes but I'll take "a guy is 6'9" not 6'11"" as a negative over any of those other negative traits

Two players that we could look at that play positions we do not need are

PG - Malichi Flynn. I think I underestimated Flynn a bit and have since rated him in a tie with Devon Dotson as far as PG's go.

PF - Naji Marshall. What I like about Marshall is that he does many things well but a bit off balance when he does them. Not very fluid but gets the job done.

I don't SEE Wiseman or Edwards in a Charlotte UNIFORM as much as I see Hayes or Avdija. (I hope my vision of Hayes being here comes true even tho I am picking Terry lol)

I also SEE Malichi Flynn as a NYK as well as Naji Marshall.

Not sure if that will mean anything but I just don't SEE Wiseman, Ball or Edwards here. Out of the 3 I would say I can see WIseman the most.

This was fun, here's mine:

Rank Name Position Scouting Video
1 LaMelo Ball Guard Watch
2 James Wiseman Big Watch
3 Anthony Edwards Guard Watch
4 Obi Toppin Big Watch
5 Onyeka Okongwu Big Watch
6 Deni Avdija Forward Watch
7 Killian Hayes Guard Watch
8 Tyrese Haliburton Guard Watch
9 Aleksej Pokusevski Forward Watch
10 Isaac Okoro Wing Watch

Also, I'm about done with undersized centers. If you can only play center and you're under 6'10", no thanks. We've done that too many damn times the last 15 years.

@Rich would you consider Bam to be a complete outlier that makes the rule?

I'd also say there is a chance Okongwu could play the 4 if he developed his ability to shoot. He can certainly defend 4s.

I'm less bullish on shooting coming along but just for the record he shot 15 for 35 on jumpers and made around 72% from the line.

Assuming its a barefoot measurement, 6'9" - 245lb - 7'2" wingspan isn't undersized for a center, especially one with good athleticism.

I think Bam is a bit of an outlier, yes. I admit, I don't know much at all about Okongwu and I'm 100% basing this on "undersized center". If we want to run an undersized center out there, I'd rather go with PJ who brings enough of everything to the table to compensate for the lack of size.

I think the draft date has been pushed back till november. sThat sucks. I can't wait to draft Tyrell Terry and I can't wait for us to draft Killian Hayes.

Okongwu's told at least one interviewer he's grown to 6'10" so there's that. Did have a rough outing against the Huskies and Jalen's brother, Jaden.

You all see this yet? Draft most likely pushed back a month.

ADAM SILVER
COM, NBA

The NBA and NBPA have tentatively set the date for the 2020 NBA Draft to November 18.
To be clear, things aren't set in stone just yet, as they still need to confirm that date with the NBA Board of Governors. It's a month later than what was initially scheduled, but the league still doesn't know exactly what the salary cap will be for the 2020-21 season and having those numbers finalized before the draft is a high priority for the league as it will affect how teams behave on draft day.

It sucked. It had Ball at #1 and I wouldn't take him top 10. Other than that it was actually pretty close.

I tried it several more times and IMO it's rigged for Ball. The creator obviously loves Ball and if I answer it anywhere close to truthfully it comes out Ball every time. Finally I took it and intentionally answered every question with the anti Ball answer and got Ball to drop to 9th, but then it had Vassell #1.
