I see you mentioned this. I posted a report from RotoWorld. The waiting is agony. You obviously love Terry, but you know the Hornets won't take him at 3 and he's probably not available at 32. Pick 17 for the Wolves would be a good spot for him to go. :D

Messing with you, but several on our Board have mentioned him for 17.

My favorite player is Hayes who I want US to draft but if I were GM I would draft Terry and make a trade to do so.

SO I would draft Terry and pick up a future pick. Also I am known as the guy who trades back and who swings for the fences and I can't do that with Hayes lol.

There are only 4 players I am considering for our 1st pick who happen to be my favorites

Hayes - My FAVORITE who I want US to draft because I am such a fan of his
Terry - My 3rd favorite player who "I" would draft (because I want us to pick up a future 1st)
Joe - My 2nd favorite player in the whole draft
Ball

my other favorites are

Elleby
Alexander
Mane
Smith
Stevens
Nnaji
Cumberland

I would love us to draft any of the players mentioned in that order

I'd really like to come out of this draft with Wiseman, Terry, and Balmoro. Or in other words an athletic rim protecting big, a hyper skilled and intelligent guard, and a playmaking wing that can defend.

I don't mind Wiseman if we can make up for drafting him with our 2nd and 3rd pick.

PICK 32 - Terry, Joe

PICK 56 - Elleby, Stevens, Alexander, Mane

EDIT: I would LOVE for Balmoro to fall to 56

So if the draft is now going to be mid Nov, and the season is starting a month later in Dec, I guess there won’t be a summer league (or equivalent) for the rookies.

I’m thinking there will also an abbreviated training camp rather than a full training camp as well.

I assume with that schedule we can expect either a shortened pre-season....or no preseason at all.

Looks like there won’t be any in person rookie workouts either.

All this on top of the rookies not having played meaningful games since March when the college season got put on ice, almost a year earlier.

All that with the addition of this being a weak draft class and there’s going to be some SLOPPY rookies next season.

We better be prepared to seriously lower our expectations of production.

Pretty good article about the Hornets Draft options over on theAthletic.com. I liked the thoughts there on Wiseman vs Okongwu.
I think the difference between the two comes down to what kind of defensive scheme you want to run as your primary tactic. Do you want to play aggressive on ball-screens? If so, I think Okongwu makes more sense. Do you want to play more of a drop coverage scheme where you filter players toward the middle of the paint and allow the center to contest? If so, Wiseman is the better option. What do the Hornets do? Well, they vary schemes a lot. With Zeller, they often dropped on 1-5 pick-and-rolls, but switched all other ball screens. With quicker bigs in late games, they basically switched all ball screens by the end of the year. I don’t know that the team necessarily has a true identity on that end yet in the same way a team like Milwaukee or Toronto does.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

The identity thing is a problem for sure

But we play who we got. There aren't that many schemes you can run when Marv is arguably your best and most consistent post defender...

Not sure if I would take LaMelo if he were to fall to 3. There is a chance he does because if Minny doesn't take him I doubt the Warriors do. But they could considering their injuries.

For me there are only 4 I am considering for pick 3

Tyrell Terry
Killian Hayes
LaMelo Ball
Isaiah Joe

We're doing a fan voted big board over on the Timberwolves forum. Fist player to 5 votes or best out of 10 than it moves on to the next spot. I thought you might like to see it.
1. Edwards.
2. Ball
3. Wiseman
4. Avdija
5. Okongwu
6. Hayes
7. Vassell
8. Williams
9. Okoro
10. Haliburton
11. Toppin
12. S.Bey (3) Maxey (1) Pokusevsky (1)
Notice we are voting on #12 and Bey is leading with 3 votes. I thought Williams at 8 was surprising and I think it's cool to hate on Toppin right now, but I will be very surprised if he falls to 11. Once again this is not a mock draft. This is a Wolves based big board.

I thought their player evaluations were overall pretty good. I thought they were a bit too focused on roster fit for the Hornets (although I still wouldn't want Ball if he falls). I'm lower on Edwards and thought they shouldn't have left Okongwu out of the conversation. I still enjoyed the discussion and appreciate sharing it here.

I'm a big fan of Saddiq Bey; a 6'8 wing who shoots +40% from 3, can guard 1-4, playmaking smarts (PG before growth spurt in HS), and 'Nova pedigree is going to be a great pro; won't be surprised if PHX takes him at 10

We have him at 12 so I doubt if any of us would be surprised if he goes 10. His stats are good. Many think the Suns will draft a PG to groom for the future under Rubio.

Great video. If you follow this exercise, you take Ball

I know several posters here aren't a big fan of LaMelo Ball. If he were to drop and you fall in the camp of not wanting to select him, your first call should be to the NYK and try to extract #8 + a future unprotected first. At 8 you should be able to select one of Halliburton, Toppin, Bey.

I read on the Hornets reddit page that Mitch's top 3 are supposedly Ball, Avdija, and Hayes in that order. I wouldn't be surprised if it's accurate because other than the Miles pick he has really prioritized passing with his draft picks.

How credible did this seem? I'm kind of pleasantly surprised to be honest.

It was from Konata Edwards, who does have some local Charlotte connections, so it has credibility.

Could be worse, I guess.
