Ayton out here showing how overrated Centers are. Especially when the team goes cold and can't hit from range.
That whole game was doo doo. Only four guys shot 50%+ from the floor
Bridges (6 attempts)
Johnson (4 attempts)
Zubac (7 footer, 8 attempts)
Ayton (8-14, 3-3 FT, 19 points, 22 rebounds, 4 blocks, 3 assists

not to mention he was able to slow down Jokic in the previous series
i'm all about the small ball in this era, but it's a situational thing, you still need a solid center on the roster who can gobble up boards, D up, and get you some baskets in close. I wish we'd been able to steal Capela from Houston, the Hawks gave up so little.

Absolutely Kemba…centers are regaining some of their importance in today’s game. Shot blocking, rebounding, finishing in the paint, never goes out of style…particularly in the playoffs.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Re: Around the NBA 11
My biggest take away from these playoffs is the need for true wings that can lock up guys defensively and still spread the floor. You don't see any of the four remaining teams trying to squeeze two or three PG types on the floor (other than LAC who has to with Beverly because Kawhi is out). Instead you see pairs like Middleton - Tucker, Bridges - Crowder, Bogdanovic - Huerter, PG - Morris. If your wing is not a prolific scorer, he needs to be a 3&D player with size and awareness to assist in ball movement.
I think we continue to stockpile and sift through wings until we have quality 3&D players around LaMelo and our future 5. I don't want to see the three PG lineup of Melo - Rozier - Graham/Monk or any similar pairing as a primary closing unit, we need more size and better defense. I don't care if it works ok in the regular season, in the playoffs playing small like that doesn't work.

Agreed, there are teams that play small without a true Center, but it is hard to double down on that and play 3 guards without a true big.
I think we could get away with playing Theis or Noel as our starting center if we had amazing wing depth with size and shooting.

I was thinking the same thing watching the Bucks-Hawks game. The Bucks are huge, we need more size on our roster for sure.

We need Cam Reddish and Kevin Huerter types on this team.
Kispert/Wagner are copies, and there at pick 11
Also the Bucks are toast without Giannis

I personally want the Hornets to stay as far away as east is from west from any player similar to Cam Reddish.

I think Huerter is the better model too. That guy is very underrated but he brings a steadiness to that line up they can't do without. Kispert could be that guy.

Such a shame Nic's ring chase at our expense came to an unsuccessful end.

Re: Around the NBA 11
2 wins away from Atlanta from having a Suns - Atlanta finals. Kudos to anyone who predicted this outcome
Obviously the good story would be to see Paul (and the Suns) with his ring, but for my part i can't wait to see a Mc Millan/M. Williams match up. For those who dont know, Mc Millan was the new coach of the Blazers around 2005 and he pushed to hire a young Monty Williams.
Williams took over part of the development of young players - incl. Batum -and the defensive part of the coaching staff.
The real good story would be for Monty Williams for many reasons (the family reasons being the most obvious).

Miles and PJ named to the US Men's select team.

Yeah basically the team that will get the Olympic team warmed up. Good for them to practice against the very best for a couple weeks though.

Big fan of this news! Especially for PJ as I really think Miles is already going hard this offseason. Will give them both some valuable experience and will be a litmus test to see what they need to improve on.

I mean I just don't think you understand how bad Cam Reddish is. Dude had only played in 2 playoff games when you made your post. In the regular season the dude averaged 36.5% FG and 26.2% 3pt. He had 1.3 assists a game and only 4 rebounds. He somehow has followed up an awful rookie season with a worse sophmore season. This is after he was absolute ass in college after being in the discussion for the nation's #1 recruit.
