I gained a lot of respect for Haliburton and what he’s about. Kings got themselves a great player and hopefully he can lead them back to the playoffs sooner than later:

DeAngelo Russell should learn a thing or two from the rookie

Helps from a comparison perspective, but Nurkic who fractured his right wrist and had surgery Jan 19th is returning to Portland’s lineup tonight. That’s about 8-9 weeks. I think there’s a better than decent chance LaMelo will be back for the last week and playoffs or play in tourney.

If we are still in the playoff hunt by May, I bet he does

I was pumped to see Lamelo at the game last night. I thought we wouldn't see him for a while.

Can't post the pic but saw a FB article where the ESPN Top 25 under 25 had Melo ranked 3rd behind Luka and Zion.

Getting a lot of shade

Biased site obviously but they link some reactions

Yes, here is what they say about Lamelo at #3
Prior to breaking his wrist, Ball was posting historic numbers for a 19-year-old, and the ease with which he was dissecting NBA defenses stood out even more than the production. Given his positional size, supernatural vision, elite instincts, creativity, touch and unwavering confidence, Ball has as much long-term upside as anyone in the NBA not named Zion or Luka.

What makes him special can't be taught, and the late-bloomer will likely become even more of a problem for defenses as he matures physically. -

and the rest of the Top 25:
1 Luka Doncic
2 Zion Williamson
3 Lamelo Ball
4 Donovan Mitchell
5 Jayson Tatum
6 De'aaron Fox
7 Ben Simmons
8 Devin Booker
9 Bam Adebayo
10 Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
11 Brandon Ingram
12 Jaylen Brown
13 Jamal Murray
14 Michael Porter Jr
15 Ja Morant
16 Trae Young
17 Mikal Bridges
18 Domantas Sabonis
19 Anthony Edwards
20 Deandre Ayton
21 Tyrese Haliburton
22 John Collins
23 Jarrett Allen
24 Lonzo Ball
25 Collin Sexton

The list is based on potential, so I really don't get some of these negative reactions to LaMelo's ranking. I totally understand if someone thinks its premature to put him that high after only 40 games, but he should definitely at least be in the discussion for potentially being in the top 5.

Probably, but I also just can't stand that guy so I'm okay with him being disrespected

The threesome of Ball, Rozier and Graham stealthily ran roughshod over the NBA before Ball fractured his wrist on March 20. They didn’t all become consistent starters, but they became formidable together, winning their 106 combined minutes by an astounding 51 points despite the team actually losing its total minutes by 60 before Ball’s injury. Yet that lineup’s performance actually fits snugly within a recent trend in the NBA: the success of prominent three-point-guard lineups.

+/- is not an infallible stat, especially with 100 minute samples. It is too often treated like rock-solid evidence by the analytics crowd.
