Different to our big board, I thought it might be interesting to see who posters preferred in a head to head situation when you only had 2 prospects to choose from and not 10.

First up is Edwards Vs Avdija.

Future match ups will be:
Edwards Vs Avdija
Wiseman Vs Okongwu
Ball Vs Haliburton
Hayes Vs Anthony
Toppin Vs Williams
Okoro Vs Vassell
Nesmith Vs Bey
Hampton Vs Green
Pokuševski Vs Smith
Achiuwa Vs Stweart

If Edwards isn't able to light it up, he won't even have a reason to be on the court.

Got to give my vote to Avdija. Has dominated his age group for years.

Avdija probably has the higher floor, but to me Edwards EASILY has the higher ceiling so he gets my vote. Edwards has a ton of learning and maturing to do, but he has the make up of an absolute dominant/bully SG. He has to get more consistent and his shot selection has a long way to go, but I think he has true star potential (even though chances are he never gets there) whereas Avdija doesn’t.

Edwards. I worry about him washing out more than any other top prospect but he's a freak athletically. It's worth a roll of the dice between him and a solid 3/4th option.

In general, Edwards

In Charlotte, Deni

I really don't know. They both seem super flawed. Would say Edwards is much more of a high risk - high reward prospect.

I honestly might prefer Deni.

I wonder if there are any stats about freshman who score x amount of points in college as a top 5 pick.

Does their scoring normally go up?down?

I love them both for different reasons. Edwards has the size, athleticism and skill to develop into a 2-way player who dominates scoring. Avdija has the 2-way potential with size, IQ/feel and skill to exploit defenses as a hybrid scorer/playmaker. I'd give the edge to Edwards in scoring but Deni in playmaking. I tend to lean towards players who will make their teammates better because if everyone produces at a higher level, credit should be given to the facilitator but it's often overlooked. Playmaking has become so integral to the game even centers are getting in on the action. If you have a center like Adebayo or Jokic you gain a huge advantage. If you have a Draymond Green at PF you have an advantage. Even though Edwards is a wing, Avdija is the better playmaker.

That being said, if the Warriors grab Deni then I would be psyched to get Edwards if he's there. I feel our staff can develop either prospect to his fullest potential. We're a great situation for either player. I just feel Avdija is so much further along and understands the game at a level ahead of his class. He has the best chance to get better quicker than the rest and to realize his full potential. So while Edwards has more potential, it could take longer and he may not fully reach it.

I like that Deni brings versatility defense playmaking off the charts bball IQ and hypercompetitive nature all in a 6'10 package and I simply prefer his team forward style of play to Edwards' hero ball

Deni is the most well-rounded prospect in the draft. While he has his flaws, most aspects of his game are NBA-ready including the things you can't teach like IQ, drive, feel, court vision, decision making, etc. I just don't see teams getting bogged down developing him. This allows them to focus on his range shooting. The fact he's already advanced in the scoring department bodes well for improvement in his weakest area. If he can learn to drain threes he will really separate himself.

We've seen what happens when supreme athletes, even skilled ones, have so many things to learn about the game it slows their progress - Monk comes to mind. Deni has that solid foundation in place so we can get to business with him right away.

I'd much rather Avdija focus on his free throw shooting and lifting that into the 80's before he tried to focus on his range shooting.
