Keeping an eye on this 19-year-old. Need real two-way players around LaMelo.

From what I have seen, he would be a fun addition. The passing would be nuts with Ball-Giddley-Hayward-Terry on the floor sometimes. We would need a stout defensive center via FA though.

I think this is who I want them to draft if they don't draft a center. Giddey up!

Alperen Sengun seems like he’d be a nice fit with the Hornets. He’s projected to go late lottery.

Perhaps a Rich Mans Cody Zeller?!

I think I don’t want him. I think he will be more jo ingles WITHOUT the 3 ball than LaMelo ball.

But I felt the same about LaMelo last year as well.

I’m not seeing too many guys that are super interesting to me.

Maybe Kai Jones, but he’s just so raw.

I don’t see any answers to our problems in this draft class.

If they don't feel like they can keep Malik Monk, Chris Duarte may be someone to look into. Elite shooter, good size (6-6), good athleticism, good defender, dude hustles. Seems like the type of player that fits with what this team is going for. Knock on him is that he's 23, but he might be able to step right into that backup SG spot. Would be great to get him in the second round but he'll probably end up going late first.

Not a fan of Jackson - I think he’s too thin and light and will be pushed around a lot in the NBA. Also has pretty much zero offensive game.

Jones is intriguing, but like I said - so, so, so raw. He reminds me of Tyrus Thomas: Flashes of brilliance mixed in with long periods of looking uncoordinated and “WTF” moments.

Jones could be good but I hope we do not zero into drafting for need at C. Get the best guy possible regardless of position and have depth/trade ammo for later. We can and should buy a starting C via FA, most 19-20 year old bigs are not going to be able to play good NBA ball immediately anyway (see Vernon Carey). Carey and Richards may be fine as our back ups with a full off season of training and growth if we have a good starter.

I'm on board the Sengun hype train early.

ETA: my fall back is Josh Giddey, Aussie version of LaMello (even played on the same team) minus the scoring instinct.

Diop did you just say you don't want us to draft an Aussie? Who are you?

Let's say we end up in the 11th slot in the draft.

What package would we put together to move up for Mobley? 11 + what gets us into the top-2 or top-3?

Depends entirely on the team with the pick, but even the ballpark estimate of what likely gets it done would make most of us balk.

11th pick + 2022 1st (top 3 protected) + Terry might get their attention but I'm not even sure that would be a given. It might take Miles to make it a sure thing.

For comparison Dallas had to trade Atlanta the 6th pick (Trae Young) + next year's first just to move up to the 3rd pick (Luka). We need to move up 8 slots, so if the price of moving from 6>>>3 is an additional 1st the price to move from 11>>>3 would likely be two 1sts or a future 1st + a player who is equivalent value to a first (Terry, Miles, maybe PJ).

Personally I think if we could actually swing 11th + 2022 1st + Terry for a blue-chip guy that would be a very savvy play. It potentially clears salary for Monk/FA Center, solves what to do with Graham (re-sign for sure), plus we no longer have to offer Terry a big contract in 2022. I don't think we will find any takers though.

Mobley is our best fit, but at 11th I'd probably pick the best guard or SF available. Şengün seems to be the only other notable center in the draft in our range, and he is probably a project.

We can use whoever that is to replace Monk or one of the Martins in the lineup.

See what we have with Vernon and Richards at center.

Anyone that makes the Martins play less would be a good pick. Center needs to be addressed, but not sure that this draft is the one for that.

Oh, and Tankathon gave the Hornets the #1 pick on my second try at the sim lottery.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

I’m just worried I will be disappointed but he does have a great feel for the game.

When did he play on the same team as Melo? Melo was illawara, giddey is Adelaide.
