I would not be mad at all if we found a promising SG in the draft and did not draft a big. Then we could let Monk and Graham walk or sign and trade them for something. We can still find something serviceable in FA or via trades at the 5.

I also would not be against trading down for two lower 2021 first round picks or a lower 2021 first and future protected but guaranteed to eventually convey first if at all possible.

I really liked what I saw from Bassey (Western Kentucky) in the NIT.

I really like Jones's skill set...will take time to develop but I think worth taking a chance on

Unless we move up, there just aren't any players past the 8th pick I would like spending the pick on. Send it to Houston for Wood and call it an offseason

I've seen suggestions in a few places about trading for Wood. Did I miss something about them being interested in moving him? Seems like he's young enough to be a part of their core, not sure why they'd want to move on.

Something I just noticed while updating the sig:

We knew that we - again - wouldn't have our 2nd round pick due to the Hernangomez trade, though we do have two picks in the round. That said, they're from Brooklyn and the Clippers, so we knew they'd be late...

Back to back: 56 and 57

Of course, we've made several picks in this range recently; stashing Kulboka and also finding McDaniels and Riller.

Seems to be in the mold of a Christian Wood or Miles's old teammate Jaren Jackson, Jr., but smaller. Certainly worth seeing tape of.

Closer to what I picture the team needs at the 5, a big, strong dude. But is Bassey or anyone in the same mold this year good enough to take over everyone else at #11? What about a free agent like Holmes or Theis? Or a project already on the roster, Vern?

What stood out to me in the vid was his ability to attack the close out and guard the perimeter - he looked good in those little flashes vs Cade Cunningham. If his shot shapes up he could create some havoc with his ability to put it on the floor. He doesn't really seem to address our size/rebounding/frontcourt defense issues - he's not a Robert Williams type (a not-so-big that plays very big) nor a 'wormy' rebounder. He still reeks a bit of Tyrus Thomas to me, but I definitely see some C. Wood in his game. He does look all the part of a late lotto pick, warts and all.

Isaiah Jackson seems like someone to keep an eye on. Similar physical profile to Kai, but perhaps a step or two above in terms of interior defense. Elite shot blocker, extremely athletic, strong on the help side. 7’5 wingspan and an absolute pogo stick. Some of the same concerns I have about Kai though in terms of physical presence/rebounding - looks like he could get bounced around a bit which could negate some of the above pros. Only 19 though so plenty of room to grow (in every sense of the word).

Jackson and Jones are both guys I like. Upside potential is high with both imo

Jackson looks like a good player to target for the trade-down fans. Houston (4 picks total) and New York (2+1 high 2nd-rounder) are the only teams with multiple picks later in the first. Mitch could come away with Jackson and a legit 3-and-D wing with size, just so we could stop imagining we could play NBA-level defense playing two 6'1" guys at the same time.

If I knew I could trade down with NY and get either Jones or Jackson I'd be ecstatic...but I'm not sure one will still be on the board at that point

Jackson could slide to the Knicks's spot at 19. Yeah Jones will be long gone by then. And I was wrong, Houston's only got 3 picks in the first.

I like the idea of adding another young big to our mix. I like Vern and Richards for what they bring but I would like to add one more young guy to the mix. Jones I like but not big on Jackson. Would rather add Sharpe than him. Big and physical with some court vision to move the ball.

Perhaps a Rich Mans Cody Zeller?!

Here we go. Didn't know he was so young.

Kinda like Isaiah Stewart without the wingspan.

Here's a totally random hypothetical:

Imagine having sights set on a really-solid-but-older prospect named D. Mitchell; but weren't expecting the sharp-shooting freshman SG from Arkansas - who's initials could (totally hypothetically) be MM - to be available at 11...

Hypothetically.
