Agreed, a talented kid that needed to stay and work on several areas of his game. I know Johnson is headed out, but I hope the current group of kids receive better advice and stick around

What happened to the dunk contest? Why is it that every year, they're putting someone in it who is either buried on someone's bench of in this case literally not even on the active roster? Are they awesome at dunking? I'm sure they are, but the dunk contest is supposed to be for NBA stars or at least guys you'd recognize who have active roles on their teams. I want to see the best dunkers of the NBA players who play not the best dunkers of the G league.

Then it’s broken and the NBA should get rid of it or fix it.

Or there is a pandemic and players are not willing to potentially expose themselves unnecessary and also need rest after a hectic 1st half of the season and even stupider second half of the season coming up so they’d rather a week of downtime/family time than to perform in a dog and pony show.

I was going to mention that in my last reply. I am sure that has something to do with it and makes it worse this year... but it’s been heading down this road for a while now it seems. We used to get all star type guys in this contest and now we aren’t even getting roster level guys. Maybe the NBA needs to rethink the format and get creative to get this going again.
