This is my guy right now. Have a feeling he is gonna be that shooting guard that falls late lottery, and five years later everyone is gonna be like "How the hell did he fall that low" (like Klay, Booker, Lavine, Mitchell). So in typical Hornets fashion, I fully expect to pick Wagner over him and regret it within a season.

He seems like a good fit in-between lamelo and miles. If we took. Player like Keon Johnson or Kai Jones before him I'd be a bit upset.

Yea sign me up…unfortunately I’m afraid we’d need to trade up to 7 or 8 to snag him

Bouknight might also be my guy at 11. I like Moody quite a bit, but if you look longterm and take Hayward and Rozier out of the picture, I'm not sure if a Moody-Miles-PJ lineup has enough offensive firepower to make it very far. Bouknight just got more going on for him.

Bouknight is gone IMO, I don't think we'll have a shot at him.

2021 Draft Prospect: James Bouknight

Post#8 » by BigSlam » Wed Jun 30, 2021 3:31 pm

He’s got that “Klay Thompson” look of ease with his jump shot.

And it’s just rinse and repeat every time: Up on his toes, small hop forward, always square, same release point….

Love this guy. He is not my pick but as you all know I would jump for joy if we were to draft him just for the fandom of it all lol.

He and LaMelo in the backcourt would be so STREET-ish and HOOD and I <3 that. His Jersey you would find in the stands just as much as Melo's. My only problem with him is that he MIGHT develop a bit of CHUCKNESS and lack of consistancy. Him, Miles and LaMelo would be cool.

LaMelo
Bouknight
Hayward
Miles
Sims

Very Exciting team that could very well happen

I have a feeling we will take the best guard/wing scorer and use FA for centers. I think he is in play. I like his competitiveness.

Does he look a little undersized to anyone else?

No. He looks like a perfect fit with Melo and Miles

I'm locked in on him being my favorite for this spot. I'm nervous that he'll test well and go higher

He actually has decent size at 6'4" with a 6'8" wingspan. However, if you watch the video posted above in this thread vs his shot in games and it looks different. He is way more relaxed shooting in this video, slower release, less lift and a weird leg kick.

Concerning to me because his shooting in the season was not great att 29% from three on 5 attempts per game.

Nah, you're just having visions of a dream backcourt with him looking shrimp-ish next to a 6"8 LaMelo lol.

Not sure what to think of Bouknight.

I would LOVE us to draft him yet I would be TOTALLY FINE if we didn't.

He's not a chucker, yet I can see him potentially becoming a tad bit of one.

He has so much star potential yet I don't think he will be a star.

He has a streetness, yet he is very professional.

He is capable of taking over a game, and he is capable of taking off many plays in a game.

He has an amazing jumper that for some reason doesn't allways go in.

He appears undersized yet is allways jumping over someone

He has a small bb iq, yet knows what the right play is and when to take the shot.

Also he has great handles, yet he will just lose the ball.

You will be shocked when he misses yet you will expect him too

He is very intriguing, but overrall he is worth the pick at 11. He probably wont be the worse of the top 11 but he probably wont be the best either. With that said at the end of the day that would = an 11th pick.

Overall he will be a good addition to the team.

One thing I can say about Bouknight is that he wont be a BUST. He might not live up to your expectations (as well as he might) but he wont be a bust.

I agree with Dean on Draft who says,
If you really want to break the NBA, you need to load up on elite well rounded role players. Isolation scorers provide diminishing returns and cap team level upside with too many of them

This is why in this draft I would rather have a versatile player like a Franz Wagner or Jalen Johnson, over a scorer like James Bouknight

You need to have at least one elite scorer (Booker, Young), but beyond that loading up on good versatile players is pretty much what both the Suns and Hawks did.

So I agree, unless you're getting someone who could be an elite scorer go for the versatile player that can contribute on both ends.
