Good write-up by his publicist. I like Bouk, but there are off-court aspects about him that give me pause. This is but one. His body language on the bench (Hornets and Swarm) leaves a lot to be desired, and he's often completely disengaged from his teammates and the huddle in timeouts. When he's on the court he shows his potential, like in December against the Kings, but I didn't think there'd be as many negative moments when he doesn't have the basketball in his hands.

I agree. He is still basically a kid and is a rookie but he needs to grow up this summer. Strong whiff of Monk right now.

I refuse to dog on a dude for "bad body language". Some people are just like that. I know enough folks with Resting Bitch Face, poor body language, slouchy, etc that aren't like that in reality. Seems unfair to Bouk to use that as an excuse.

The things like fighting with Coach and acting like a **** at the UConn game are perfectly valid though.

I get the vibe that he came in ready (and expecting) to show out as a rookie and when he never got any meaningful PT, he started getting frustrated.

That's fair. Wrong, but fair. I personally think he was done wrong (and Kai and Thor a little as well) by not getting any PT to even see if he belongs on the floor or not, but I'm not the coach so I don't know why it happened that way.

All I can say is that I hope he learns from it and grows up some. It's a professionalism thing and he's putting himself on a condensed timeline to prove he belongs.

Your first and last points kind of contradict. The bad vibes he gives off on the bench are a symbol of poor professionalism, no different than the UConn mess -- but far less of an issue, either way, than stepping up to his coach (no matter how correct his point may be).

Bouk is a rookie with a lot of promise on a team that has established guards ahead of him. He'll either pick it up this offseason and come in ready to play consistent minutes, or he'll fall by the wayside.

*checks google to see how old he is*

Bouknight's a relatively fresh 21, I'll give him the young and stupid excuse for now.

I know we are all kind of upset with Bouk right now for the hand injury.
Lower on him because we can see Monk 2.0 happening with Clifford.

However, it does seem kind of crazy to give up on a guy after just 1 year. Even if he sucks this year, Clifford has to commit to playing 20 mpg on most nights. Bouknight is probably our most swing prospect in terms of developing into a third allstar level guy.

I like Mark, Kai, Thor, PJ as solid prospects but I don't think they have the ceiling Bouk has. Bouk definitely has a high bust percentage at this point, but I would rather go down with him swinging then never give him a fair shake.

I'm not upset with Bouk at all, I just think he's in a situation that is exceptionally hard to succeed in... and that was even before Clifford got here.

Cliff doesn't have to commit to **** in relation to Bouknight.

It's Bouk who has to make the commitment.
Commitment to acting like a professional.
Commitment to showing that he gives a damn when he plays.
Commitment to improving.

When Bouk shows that he has earned 20mpg, that's when he should get 20mpg.

He hasn't done that yet.

Dude was a rookie... who barely got to play. How do you expect him to get better?

You think OKC is over there benching guys like Giddey, SGA, or Dieng this year?
What about Houston with Sengun, Green and Porter? Were they super professional at all times?
Suns weren't benching Booker, Cam Johnson and Ayton their first few years when their team was bad... you think those guys deserved 30 mpg every night?

Bouk averaged 21,5 ppg in the Gleague. He has shown he is too good for that league already at just 21 yrs old.

We are a team that needs to have internal development in order to become a contender. Not a team that is going to win 55 games and coast into the 2nd round of playoffs.

How do I expect him to get better?

Show it in practice.
Show it in film study.
Show it with your attitude.
Don't play like you are above SL during your rookie season.
Don't play like you don't give a **** for the Swarm.
Don't try to fight the coach during a game.
Don't act like an a-hole as a spectator at a college game.

I don't think anyone of the players you listed deserve anything. I think they earn it.

I guess that's a difference between you and me.

And I'm guessing you hardly watched a Swarm game if your main take away is that he 21.5ppg while there.

This idea that a coach isn't going to play a player that gives his team the best opportunity to win is mind numbing. It's in the coaches best interest to play the players who give him the best chance at winning.

Guys like Bouk and Monk don't get playing time for a reason.

You are right I didn't watch many Swarm Games. But I also assume you weren't at practices, film study either were you??

Pretty easy to call out 2 incidents and then make the assumption that is how he acts the other 363 days in the year. You know what they say about people that assume right?

Saying he tried to fight a coach seems a bit aggressive, he yelled back at a coach because he was frustrated with not playing. Don't think we know close to half of the story to make judgements.

So you think Houston should of played Garrison Matthews over Jalen Green IF the Coach felt Matthews gave them the best chance to win last year? You honestly think that?

Hard for me to get all warm and fuzzy about Bouknight. Besides the immaturity, his handle is loose and he is too myopic in half court sets.

I do really hope he worked hard this off-season. The Hornets are going to need him.

The image projected by Kai with his effort and words bring reassurance that he’s doing his best to develop, you just don’t get that from Bouknight.

We all hope he succeeds, but he’s given us reason to get nervous

Don't think so. We just heard it had been fixed, don't think we ever heard the initial report that it even was hurt.

Not sure I want to know with how this team is. With our luck he probably got it caught in a door jerking off at 4am listening to Leona Lewis
