Keeping my eye on this guy. May not pan out, but Duke recruited him heavily out of HS and he was a 5 star recruit. College career was meh, but could carve himself out a decent career.

I believe at one point, several years ago, he was projected as a "lottery". If that's correct, there is still some sort of potential.

That's correct, he was at one point a projected top 5 pick. He could definitely be a diamond in the rough.

As I said in the overall draft grade thread last night: Was pretty indifferent with the Lewis pick. I mean, it's pick #56 so the expectations were really low. I know others wanted SIms, but with so many 1st and 2nd year bigs on the roster did we really need to add one more?
PG is a position I think we really needed to address, but I'm not sure there were any PG"s left on the board worth taking?

Funny thing is over the years Scottie MIGHT have been the player I went back and forth with the most as far as do I want him on the team. That is not a bad thing on his part. I did that because he is so fundamentally sound and boring in a sense but I always figured something was THERE... I believe he can make the team. Solid potential.

NBADraft Instant Analysis on Lewis (B):
"Lewis is one of the draft's best pure athletes and uses that athleticism most effectively on defense. Teams could take Lewis' film from Florida and use it to teach defensive fundamentals. Offensively, he's still a major work in progress. He is an inconsistent shooter, and the fewer dribbles he takes, the better. His defensive upside is well worth it at this late stage of round two."

GLeague guy, one of the best 3 athletes at the combine if not the best when you consider everything.
6-5 with a 7 foot wingspan. 42 inch vertical.
averaged 1.6 steals and 1 block which are elite defensive indicators.
His shot isn't very good, but he is a longterm project to be a 3D guy as he should be a stopper at the very least with size and athleticism.

I like Lewis. I woulda rather Teague, or Duke here tho if there were other SG's that immediately comes to mind I would have taken over him that were still on the board. But even tho I would have taken them over him is not a knock against him. He has potential to be in the league.

Been watching him some today, obviously your expectation for pick 56 is always absolutely nothing but he's cool for a pick this late. COuld really become a really really good defender. But he has a shot that when it goes up I never think it has any chance of going in lmao

I'm catching up on some video of this guy. maybe I don't know anything about NBA prospects, but it wasn't exactly difficult to see why he would be worth a flyer in the late 2nd round of the draft. I'm seeing his numbers and his role in college, and I mean, it seems like he has a shot to be a better pro than he was a college player.
another player from one of the five boroughs, since he's from the Bronx (Bouknight from Brooklyn). I like his style of play for having a chance to translate pretty well to the pro game. beyond that, I see glimpses of stuff that could really help flesh out his game with ample minutes in the G league.
he's super active and there's a lot of juice in his legs. he's got an unexpectedly flashy first step for a guy drafted as late as him. he's super active in the passing lanes. he crashes the boards. he has shown the ability to finish at the rim quite a bit more effectively than I anticipated, looking at his percentages at Florida. he can elevate with anybody. he seems to be committed on the defensive end of the court, which counts for a lot in my book.
his 3pt numbers in college were mediocre at best, but I think his actual form is decent. it seems he's often caught having to gather the ball a little bit to get his shot off, but he doesn't quite slow his motion down to account for it, so he kind of loses the plot midway through his shot. that seems ~fixable~ to me.
but to me, having his juice in the open court + his fledgling ability to finish at the rim with touch + potential 3pt shooting upside if he can stop Bismacking passes at the top of the key + defensive commitment + really solid size for a 2-guard... there's room for guys like that in the league. I'll be keeping an eye on where he goes. he might just blossom into a rotation player.

If he works hard I wouldn't be surprised to see him make the rotation next season. The Martin twins' (and likely McDaniels as well) minutes will be there for the taking.

Well he was the #2 ranked SG coming out of highschool in 2019. Definitely some potential there.
I am very, very high on him. Excited.
