Rotation After Trade Deadline

Post#1 » by JDR720 » Thu Feb 10, 2022 11:13 pm

Melo - Bouknight (?)
Oubre - Rozier
Miles - Martin
PJ
Harrell - Plumlee

I assume we'll look for another backup PG in the buyout market. Whenever Gordon comes back, Miles goes to PF and Oubre to the bench.

First off Rozier won't be coming off the bench.

LaMelo (32) / Rozier (16)
Rozier (20) / Martin (20) / Oubre (8)
Miles (24) / Oubre (24)
PJ (24) / Miles (12) / McDaniels (12) (or more Martin minutes at SG with Oubre+Miles shifting up)
Harrell (28) / Plumlee (12) / PJ (8)

36min for Miles, Rozier. 32min for Melo, Oubre, PJ. 28min for Harrell. 20min for Martin. 12min for Plumlee and McDaniels.

If Hayward comes back, I think he eats most of McDaniels minutes, a few Oubre minutes, and some of Martin's. In certain matchups maybe Plumlee just doesn't play (we can dream right?) and PJ takes all the backup C minutes and Miles moves to the 4 for most of the game.

Think Plumlee will still start, but Harrell probably plays down the stretch. I do think PJ moves into starting lineup tho, just based on there not being many minutes available at center for him. Hayward coming back probably knocks Bouk or McDaniels out of rotation and also steals some minutes from Oubre and PJ.

LaMelo (32)- Rozier (16)
Rozier (16)- Oubre (20)- Bouk (12)
Miles (16)- Martin (24) Oubre (8)
PJ (24)- Miles (16)- McDaniels (8)
Plumlee (24)- Harrell (24)

10 Man rotation with either McDaniels or Bouk not playing some nights. Staggering Rozier as main backup pg, means him and LaMelo will only be on court together max 16 minutes a game though. Good for defense, but we lose some offensive explosiveness.

Starters - LaMelo/Terry/Miles/PJ/Plumlee
core bench - Martin/Oubre/McDaniels/Harrell
spot minutes - Bouk/Richards

Would also like to see a Kemba buyout to replace Ish and hopefully Hayward returns this season.

Is there a single other PG on the roster besides Melo?

I wouldn't be surprised if his minutes get pretty low once Hayward comes back. I think they'll still play PJ a decent amount at center. 12 might be too low, but I could see him dropping to the 15-18mpg range eventually (still think he starts though).

my gut is that Plumlee will start but Harrell will get at least 20 minutes at centre

No way we play Bouknight at backup PG. You saw how bad last year doing that with a combo guard went (Monk).

I still think we probably sign our backup PG in the next few days unless someone particularly fascinating becomes available as a free agent at the other positions.

Rozier spots Melo until then.

Terry's been pretending to be a PG for about 15 minutes a game this year, but no. we don't. I miss Devonte'

I think it will be
Melo, Terry Bouknight
Terry, Oubre Martin
Miles, Martin , Oubre
PJ, Miles Tez
Plumlee, Tez, Richards. I do think Tez will play more than Plumlee at center
The switching at the sf, pf, center should be interesting with all three strong . Switching should seam seamless
