Trading for Westbrook with the intent of actually playing him might be the thing that makes me drop this team for good. Prepare to be miserable 80% of the time watching games next season if this happens. I watched more than half the Lakers games last season just to see Lebron/Monk, but wasn't invested in them winning, so Westrbook was comedy gold in that context, but him on a team you are actually rooting for to win is basically a nightmare scenario at this point.

I'm with you in that I'm a long time Westbrook fan.

Does make me wonder if MJ looked at us being blown out in two elimination games and said, "F this, if we're gonna get blown out I'm at least going to see max effort out there on the floor."

I'll be able to get excited if he comes here, but I also can't act like I think it's a good idea from a roster construction and fit perspective.

My principal issue is I don't know how he fits with Melo. Clunky as hell fit.

As far as roster construction and fit I think it's an absolutely horrific fit.

But I'm also ridiculously intrigued by it.

I don't think any Westbrook deal is viable or anything more than passing interest but I think I prefer tearing off the bandaid rather than slowly peeling it. I don't think Rozier fits alongside LaMelo long term due to Terry's limitations on defense. Watching Westbrook for one year is better than Terry on repeat for 4. Terry is the better player right now but he's the wrong fit long term, whereas Westbrook is the wrong fit short term. However, at least Westbrook has played for D'Antoni.

My hope is that the Hornets are signaling these Westbrook rumors because they want to spook teams calling on Terry and alert then to this big decoy MJ is infatuated with. I will admit, I like Rozier a great deal less than most Hornets fans do though.

Edit: just to be clear, my stance on Westbrook relates to my feelings about Terry. I would hope Rozier has a bigger market and that the Hornets could do better than Russ.

What do you guys think about this?

CHA out Hayward, Rozier, 15
CHA in Turner, Hield

IND out Turner, Brogdon, Hield
IND in Hayward, Westbrook, 15

LAL out Westbrook
LAL in Rozier and Brogdon

I don't think a 3 team trade makes sense.

If Indy want Westbrook, they can trade for him themselves. Cutting us out.

Turner + Brogdon or Hield is a better package than Gordon + Rozier.

And I've haven't seen anything that said Indy wants WB. We're the only one.

Hornets receive Turner

Pacers send Brogdon and Turner
Pacers receive Westbrook, Lakers future lottery protected first and 15

Lakers send Westbrook and Future Lot protect first
Lakers get Hayward and Brogdon

I like this version for Pacers, because instead of eating money in Turner swap like Plumlee or Oubre and then Westbrook in another deal with Lakers. They get to combine the value and essentially keep one of Brogdon or Hield.

Pacers clear cap and still get 2 firsts.

I guess if Pacers think they can con Knicks or Wizards into giving them 10/11 for Brogdon then obviously do that. They can't be that dumb can they?

I'm personally kind of turned off on the Turner idea now. He's banged up all the time and i don't forsee that changing
