We've got less ping pong balls than them if that helps..... And our rookies got a lot less playing time to develop in...

You guys got national TV coverage and a featured episode on the Lowe Post about your play by play commentator. That's way more than the passing comments that these teams got.

Ready to share my thoughts now:

I thought the 1st half was really good - especially the defensive job TRo did on Young. He absolutely dominated him.
I thought PJ was looking really frisky on both ends.
Melo was being reckless, but looked engaged.

The only real problem in the 1st half was that we were missing our shots. They weren't defending us out of our shots or forcing us to take bad shots and for the most part we weren't volunteering to take bad shots (aside from some of Melo's - and that drive with 8 seconds left in the half......WTF?!??!), we just couldn't hit anything. We were frustrating Young and not allowing him any rhythm at all.

Trez came in and gave us some really good mins and a solid presence.

So at the half, I was actually confident. I thought if we kept playing that level of D, the shots would start falling in the 2nd half and we would run away with it.

But then the 3rd quarter happened....

Our D went to ****, and we were still missing shots. Then we get desperate and start cheating on D and over helping on D and giving them easy looks. Then we start forcing our offence trying to play catch up and all of a sudden there are holes all over the court.

You could see when the desperation and scramble kicked in. It was brutal. Then we lost our composure and started barking at refs and frustrated our own way out of the game.

I hate how much time he has missed, but it's so obvious why a player like Hayward is so important. He's calm, he doesn't panic, he knows his spots and how to get to them. He doesn't rush things. He settles things down.

This team is so young with Melo and Miles etc. Even Terry is young as far as being starting lead SG. When things start to get tough, they don't know how to respond.

If they can mature over the summer, I can see next season being huge.

But that's a big "if".

I can see next season being, if all goes well, 38-44 and another play-in game. Congrats in advance to the 9-seed on their 150-point game.

Cry me a River....

Bad game, needed Hayward and a better center. Same story as last year. I think we get a better center, Hayward should recover over the summer and we should load manage him next season, we will have one or 2 decent picks to add, one should be for a defensive 2 guard guy who is mature and tall. Everybody else gets more mature and maybe we swing a trade to balance the roster.
46-36 4/5 seed incoming.

Terry and Melo missed a combined 15 consecutive shots in the 1st half. FIFTEEN!!!!!

Jitters? Nerves? Bad luck?

I think it comes down to them both being streaky and just not being experienced enough to know better.

Terry has played and started in meaningful playoff games for the Celtics and looked incredibly jittery. Didn't expect that from him at all.

He was really bad in last years play-in game as well.

It might have been first quarter. I was probably being generous.

That train and subsequent walk to the arena really f***** these guys up huh?

Did you see the way his leg folded over? Ankle ligaments don't just magically snap back into place when they get that bent.

They wouldn't have let him play that one game if they thought there was any chance of actually damaging stuff. I seem to remember Al Jefferson playing in clear agony for 36 mpg over 3 games before finally getting shut down in game 4, getting multiple shots per game in his foot to play through the pain. Hayward is just soft

I don't think Hayward is "soft", but he definitely seems to be a slow healer, which isn't really something he or anyone can do anything about it, so I'm not going to get mad at him for it even though its frustrating. A lot of his injuries have just seemed like bad luck and I wouldn't say he is super injury prone, but he is somewhat injury prone and heals slow, which is still a bad combination.

AD is known as being injury prone and he had a similarly bad rolled ankle to what Hayward had and he returned a decent amount quicker. I can't remember the exact timetables for both, but AD's injury happened after Haywards by at least a week or two I think and he managed to return for a couple games and looked decent before they were eliminated.

Could you imagine if they were actually that fragile?

That would be a massive concern IMO.

Be an even bigger concern if they actually tried to use that as an excuse.

Time for a coaching change.

There's no shame in losing, but there's great shame in humiliating yourselves in the process like the Hornets have for 2 straight years now. Lack of effort/focus. Lack of preparation.

i realize it's not the same coaching staff, but after seeing MKG's shoulder explode 6 games after coming back, and basically every hamstring/knee injury from Batum/Lamb/Zeller getting aggravated upon every return they ever made from injuries... I think we are forgetting teams can make stupid decisions with "winning at all costs" in mind
