I’ll repeat what I said in other thread. Absolutely thrilled with this hire. Watched what he did in Brooklyn and he was a very good coach. Give me him over MDA and Borrego.

Ive been curious to see how he did in his next job ever since he got seemingly unfairly ousted in Brooklyn. It seemed weird that it took him so long to get hired again, but hopefully his time in Golden State helped him level up (I would love to see them incorporate some of their offensive principles with this roster).

Just saw Jay Triano signed somewhere else. MJ also needs to spend on some good assistants. Gotta be serious at every level if they want to keep LaMelo long term.

Congratulations you guys, Kenny is a fantastic coach and gets his players to run through walls for him. You guys are going to be much better and he will be a great coach for LaMelo just like he was for Spencer Dinwiddie and D'Angelo Russell.

I still wish he was coach of the Nets, but KD and Kyrie don't want to be coached or play team basketball. Good luck to you guys I'll be rooting for Kenny

He wasn't my top choice (Sweeney was), but I think he's probably the best and correct choice for the team right now of the available guys.

Curious to see what his staff looks like

This is the guy I wanted the least out of everyone available, but I hope I’m proven wrong and his second stint is a successful one. I’m just really baffled that you fired JB because he hasn’t been able to get to the playoffs and have success for a guy with one total playoff win and a worse overall winning % than the coach you just fired. Might as well have given JB another year, but here we are. Prove me wrong now. I hope they do.

Improved defense will be great, but what movies will he reference during practice?

Signed for 4 years?

So that means we will be in the market for a new coach around 2024?

He needs to call Jeremy Lin to his next career and add him to the staff.

Maybe that’s why we worked Sharpe out?

Maybe our FO didn’t even know Sharpe existed, then on Wednesday Atkinson said to MJ “so listen, in the draft there’s this kid named Sharpe….”

See - the advantages of having a head coach is paying off already!!

To those of you on this board who are under the mistaken belief that Atkinson did a poor job with the Nets due to their W/L record, listen to this guy right here. He knows what he's talking about:

Atkinson is viewed as one of the top talent developers in the NBA. His track record at virtually every stop supports that notion. In Brooklyn, he helped turn Caris LeVert, Spencer Dinwiddie and D'Angelo Russell into three of the best young guards in basketball. He then joined the Los Angeles Clippers as an assistant, and Terance Mann grew into one of the breakout players of the 2021 postseason under his watch. He spent this season with the Golden State Warriors, and not coincidentally, young players like Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody and Gary Payton II have thrived with him in the building.
