Glad to see some effort to fill our hole at backup PG, unclear on how I feel about the choice.
Thoughts?

There will be dunks...?
Hoping this is just a training camp deal and not our official "answer" at backup PG, but worth a shot.

Not the worst idea in the world. Young enough that he could still be improved. Would add a defensive PG too.

Any case I'd rather have exciting bums than boring bums... *glares at Gary Neal, Brian Roberts, and Ramon Sessions*

This is a pretty amazing series of videos to check out where his head is at right now:

I'm actually starting to enjoy this team cycling through poor man's versions of Monk after letting him walk for no reason. That DSJ/Oubre back court in Cliffords 5 man bench units gonna be lit.
edit: For real, though, I don't think this signing is bad in a vacuum. Doesn't hurt to take a flyer on a guy like that, but in the context of this being like the only move of the offseason it kind of makes me want to roll my eyes a bit. Kind of feels like a Cho move in that context lol.
Wish the best for DSJ, though. Its always nice if someone is able to turn things around, so that would be cool.

I wish it was Kemba. But I like Dennis. Not a bad signing.

Seems like a decent signing on a non-guaranteed deal. Worth kicking the tires for sure. Maybe DSJ finally puts it together closer to home.

He’s only 24 years old, to my surprise.
He’s the most athletic of the options but he’s not a good shooter at any level or at the ft line at all. That’s what worries me more than anything.

It’s no way this is the answer at back up? It has to be something else

I just looked at his bbref page and was surprised to see his defensive bpm was over +1.0 the last two seasons. His offense metrics look real bad, though.

I like it more than Kemba and Elfrid, probably more than IT as well just because of the difference defensively. Hey guys, he's only 24 and is hungry to prove himself. This would be really cool if he turns out to be a solid backup PG for us.

we never learn
he's the last type of player this team needs

care to summarize why those yt vids might be a beacon of hope that maybe he's ready to turn things around?

sure, low risk, so why not... was still hoping for bledsoe for defense alone, IT for his melo mentoring or kemba for the fun vibes.
might be a sign that we view this yr w/out miles as a skip/reset yr instead of going balls out for playoffs.

An athletic ballhandler/decent defender who can drive and kick? Sure he can't really shoot, but I think he's worth a look. Very low risk that could turn into a solid backup PG, or just be cut before the season if he doesn't fit the bill.
Just glad they semi-recognize that Rozier shouldn't be our starting SG AND backup PG.
