Kawhi wants a point guard, how about a point centre?!

Clippers could actually do with a backup centre

Trades suggested in Duncd on pod
Kelly to LA for Bev and 2RP.
Mason and McD to Nets for Cam, Sharpe, 2RP.
both are underwhelming. I guess yes to Kelly trade, no to Nets trade.

Gonna give Plum and McD away for a couple 3rd/4th stringers.

Seriously - I'm self aware enough to feel my homer bias, but every hypo trade scenario I've seen seems to slant against the hornets. Mason and McD - two pieces, one young and with upside, that would contribute for the Nets - for Thomas (another woefully undersized 2 that reeks bust), Sharpe (basically nobody) and late second? Right. I'd rather let them expire.

I wouldn't do the LA trade either. Bev would just be a buyout candidate (and don't want his crazy on the team either). Oubre is worth 2 2nd's at least.
In other news:

What would be considered a good deadline?

Best case for me – we jettison Terry, Oubre, and Mason. Rozier nets a 1st and expiring, Mason a late first + salary match garbage, Oubre a useful role player and seconds. The likelihood of moving 3 vets though? below low.
Gut says Rozier makes it through the deadline, Mason is moved for meh + seconds, Oubre is moved for meh + seconds.
This all said - it would be zero shock if we were to do nothing.

Pacers own 3 firsts in this draft.
Jazz own 3 firsts in this draft.
Spurs have excess firsts in coming years.

both of those trades reek of "big market poaches players from small market"

I am not asking for much.
We make at least 1 trade.
We get at least 1 future first
We move Plumlee for something useful.

I'm expecting a Harrell-level move...maybe. But like you said, no one will be surprised if the Hornets stand pat and do nothing.

I'd rather do nothing then give away valuable players/assets for 2nd rounders in 2038 which is what opposing fans seem to want to do.

Bouknight and Mcdaniels to Pacers for Duarte and Boston first
Feel like that is decent

In a heartbeat + feels fair for both sides.

We do nothing. We keep both Kelly and Mason plus all of our vets and continue playing them 30 plus minutes a game for the rest of the season while we go .500.
Mitch and Clifford talk about how they really thought the team could make a run for the play in spot now that everyone is healthy.
We resign at least one of them to a long-term contract in july.

Yeah this would be madness. However, I do like the idea of resigning Oubre to a deal if we end up moving Rozier.

I also think Mitch did a nice job of getting Harrell last year at the deadline.
I am glad he didn't give up the crazy asking prices for Poeltl or Turner.
2 firsts plus Kai was what they wanted.

Dont want to insist, but Petrusev if he's made available, would be a very nice scoring big for this team (way more reliable than whatever K. Jones can become). He started slow in Euroleague, but he's made a real impact since his beginnings.
Not sure if the 76rs would trade him for 'nothing' (knowing he would be expensive here, i doubt he crosses the atlantic for less than something around 8M/y)
He's clearly better than Sengun (no matter how you feel about it).
As for the deadline, i hope Rozier is gone in one week for sure. The guy is gonna keep pushing no matter what because of his contract (and the incentives he has on it).
otoh i want them to keep Hayward, as i am pretty sure his expiring could bring a nice return next year (in a year without guys like Victor and Scott to get drafted).
Hope Plumlee is gone as well, since he's not part of any future for this team.
