I don't think there is any way Clifford can keep Williams vs Duren from happening this time.

The Spurs of all teams have been putting on one of the most extreme tank jobs from the last few seasons.

The Spurs making an intelligent move? I'm not surprised at all

I think the concern about the Hornets winning too many games down the stretch is a bit overblown. There are only 20 games left and most of them are against playoff teams fighting for position. We play the Cavaliers 3 times, the Raptors twice, and the 76'ers, Suns, Knicks, Mavericks, and Pelicans all once. We also play the Bulls, Thunder, Jazz, and Nets. The next closest team behind us, the Magic, are up 6.5 games on us and they're playing well right now. The odds that the team will end up right where they are now, 4th worst, are pretty good.

We should start Maledon, Bouk, Thor, Kai and Mark.
Just to put a spotlight on the Pistons for clearly tanking.

Looking to see how Thor and Kai do. They really didn't do much last game. In general, Thor has been underwhelming this season IMO, after showing promise last year.

Agreed. I thought Thor was the one of the three youngsters that actually showed promise last year. I had him higher than McD as a prospect too.
I don't know how much of it is regression by the sophomores vs Cliff stank

We are actually much more likely right now to pick 6th or 7th than 4th, just to give everyone the heads up.
Which we will achieve for an absolutely meaningless finishing position. All wins now do is cost us percentage chances of moving up in the draft at each position AND it also lowers our position where we will ultimately pick if we don't "move up".
We currently have a floor of 8th pick when we could have a floor of picking 5-6 and a couple of percentage points better chance of moving up into each of the top 4 spots.
It's just ultimately dumb to reduce your chances of having a higher pick for absolutely no benefit. And please don't give me the BS narrative that finishing with an extra 6-8 wins than the worst teams in the league will mean they won't develop bad habits or a losing mentality.
The ONLY good thing that can come from not fully bottoming out is if someone REALLY shows out and emerges as a potential All-NBA/All-star calibre player in the back half of the season, or Lamelo plays like a top 10 player.

we arent going to be able to out-tank spurs, pistons, rockets. its a miracle we are even 4th. luckily, also almost impossible to move to 5th. we can just enjoy the games and root for improvements from our core.

This is the point I was trying to make. We're pretty much locked into the 4th worst spot.

We're totally going to take the Nick Smith kid with the 7th pick aren't we?
Gotta continue the lineage of small SG busts
