Basically, his defensive upside is the opposite of Scoot. Just as good as of a playmaker and all in all not that much worse as a shooter.

If we had pick 3 and Miller was already gone I would lean him over Scoot for us.

Just doubt front office goes down this road simply because of lack of shooting and MKG narrative.

What's the reason he is consistently ranked higher than his twin? From the looks of it, it seems Auscar was considered the slightly better of the two.

He can't shoot. Pass. So tired of this uber out of these worth athletes that don't have a pure stroke.

Shoot the basketball.

Just once, I want to draft a guy that can shoot, just to see what it feels like

I asked this in the main thread but I'll post it here.

For those who like Scoot, why not Amen instead?

Taller, longer, (probably?) more athletic, better defender and rebounder.

Only thing is he's a worse shooter. But folks are saying it doesn't matter and that can be taught to Scoot so I assume that's transitive.

Does Amen have the handle and vision that Scoot has shown?

ETA: Honest question, I know practically nothing about Amen other than that he plays in this league I didn't know existed.

As a facilitator? Definitely not, but he is elite at getting to the rim and in transition

For the lack of competition debate.
Do you think if you practiced against another NBA lottery pick every day for 10+ years that would help you?

Amen is definitely risky just because the OTE stuff is so new, but would not shock me if he is a top 2 player in this class. He is that good atheltic and has a really good feel for the game on top of that.

Amen may be a lot of things, and would add much to a roster full of deadeye shooters. Problem is we NEED a quality shooter plus defensive gem. Thompson twins give me MKG flashes….not a good thing.

I honestly think folks are sleeping on him.

6'6 barefoot, 215lb with a 7" wingspan and incredible athleticism. The only thing preventing him from having a perfect profile is that outside shot.

Hell by that hyperbole, he's the next MJ

Scoot is Dennis Smith Jr. and Miller is a less athletic Kyle Korver

MKG was never a great athlete. He also was 6-6 as a forward. Thompson is a legit lead ball handler and significantly twitchier than MKG ever was.

MKG draft was just so bad that if you squinted you could maybe see a solid 2-way wing.
Beal was the obvious pick don't get me wrong, but the rest of the lottery were full of red flags.

beal wasnt really any more obvious than others at the time

making him a relatively low-risk high-reward type prospect to pick in the mid to late part of the lottery. - Source: https://www.draftexpress.com/article/Trending-Prospects-3142012--3865/ ©DraftExpress

- struggled shooting, 33% from 3
Beal has struggled to hit jumpers consistently all season. Nearly half of his field goal attempts have come from 3-point range, but he's able to connect on just 33% of them thus far.

big concern for a guy whose rep was his shooting
also just avg size for position

Weaknesses: May be an inch or two shorter than most starting shooting guards in the NBA, and he doesn’t have the kind of explosive leaping ability that would compensate … Is prone to getting his shot blocked when he takes the ball inside … Struggles in traffic. Size appears to be an issue for him when in around the basket … Not a polished ball-handler, has yet to show a consistent ability to get to the rim off the dribble from the periemeter … Won’t often look to create for himself or others off the dribble … Had an inconsistent year behind the arc, shooting only 34% from outside, struggled especially early in the year …

Beal was no more obvious than Thomas Robinson, Barnes, Lillard or Drummond at the time.
