FWIW aside on draft grades - always feels weird giving someone an A+ for winning a lottery ticket. Happy for the Spurs but all they had to do was show up. I think the Mavs deserve a hand clap. Smart maneuvering.
EDIT - hope I didn't overstep creating this - just felt it was time.

A-. Only thing that would of been better IMO is getting a defensive wing and somehow accruing more picks for next year. If we had done either of those things it would of just been icing on the cake.
I know everyone will hate on Miller over Scoot, but I think we have far more options with the way we build this team moving forward, going to be fun. Compare Nick Smith to Kai, Thor, McGowens of years past. I think he is way further along and will contribute this season.

We shouldnt even have an F. its no way you can get an F with the second pick, even at Scoot or Millers floor they are decent.
I dont like the Miller pick, Its going to fun to watching the same people that wanted Miller, later complain we should have taken Scoot. that said Millers shooting should make this team better and is exactly what we needed.

I refuse to grade drafts after traumatizing myself by giving 2021 an A+... on the plus side, this draft didn't give me the same empty feeling that 2012 gave me so there's that.

Mitch could have traded the 2 for a future first round pick citing "too much young talent", so there was room for an F.

i gave it a B to be optimistic but I thought more a C. I don't think we did much or as much as we probably could have to improve our roster.

This may be the first draft I gave an A. I was a Miller/Scoot fence sitter so attendance award for not f'ing it up. Just think we extracted a lot of value in Smith and Bailey. Didn't care for Smith in the lottery but at 27, that's a solid A. Neither one feel like falling knives to me - both seem to be high talent guys that were victims of circumstance and injury and both guys began to really show their talent/potential of late.

I would give an A but I honestly don't know most of the guys we drafted so I don't feel qualified to grade
No obviously stupid decisions IMO, and I like combining 34 and 39 to move up

I am ok with Miller and Bailey but I woulda rather someone else over Smitty. Maybe Sensabaugh, or Nikola, or Wilkson, Or Jackson

It is a bit concerning you keep mentioned Nikola Durisic, when he withdrew from the draft lol. There is a reason he went undrafted my dude.

In other words I would prefer this
Melo / Cody /
Rozier / Bailey
Miller / Hayward / Sensabaugh or Wilson or Jackson or Durisic etc...
Miles / PJ /
Williams / Nick
Then we could have even parted with PJ and Hayward and Rozier.
instead of
Melo / Cody /
Rozier / Bailey / Smith
Miller / Hayward /
Miles / PJ /
Williams / Nick

I kept checking and never saw his withdrawel. Only place I see it is on Reddit. Thanks for the update. I was wondering why he didn't get drafted because imo he could be lottery

I got excited when they described the guy from Xavier as Josh hart. I've desperately wanted a Josh Hart type on this roster. Then I realized we traded the pick.

I gave it a B but actually more of a B+.
Imo, an A+ would've looked like a Zion, Herb Jones (or Murphy), #14 and a future FRP for #2 deal. Imo, the choice was never really Miller vs. Scoot and it was pretty much Miller vs. the gamble on Zion. If the Pels only offered Zion, we definitely made the right choice.
Loved the Nick Smith and Colby Jones selections too.

yap I heard that comparison. I woulda loved Colby Jones. Different style of play but could fair well in the league. Great passer and defender.

Kevin Pelton ESPN+ gave Hornets draft a B+
The Hornets getting Smith with the 27th pick was one of my favorite selections. In October, Smith was in the top five of the preseason mock draft by ESPN's Jonathan Givony. As underwhelming as Smith's season at Arkansas was, that seems like an overcorrection. Charlotte was also appropriately aggressive in moving up to draft Nnaji after he fell to the second round.
Ultimately, our opinions of Charlotte's draft will rest on the decision to take Miller over Scoot Henderson at No. 2. I'm good with considering Miller the better prospect independent of fit with LaMelo Ball, which shouldn't be the primary consideration so early in the draft.

Dittos to everything you said, also likely my first A grade for this team’s draft night. Think Nnaji may be an overreach to stash verses taking other options, but should be interesting.

I'm fine with Miller over Scoot. Both have their flaws and I've made my concerns about Miller known but he would've been my selection too if no acceptable trade packages for the pick were available, which seems to have been the case. Let's hope he turns out to be more Paul George than Cam Johnson.
Would've preferred Tristan vukcevik as a draft and stash over Nanji and think alot of teams are going to regret passing on trayce Jackson Davis in the second round.

Looks like I'm not alone in voting for that.
