This is honestly sort of hilarious.
Will we cut him ala Lowry?
Could be a good veteran to have otherwise.

Nothing. This is just a salary dump for Denver. They can't take anyone back anyway, they're a luxury tax team.

Funny - NBATV and ClutchPoints Twitter still reporting it as us sending DEN 3 2nds for Reggie.

Would be hilarious if the hornet's version of collecting contracts for assets tops out at Reggie Jackson for 3 2nd rounders.

It looks like the Hawks just moved off 20yo AJ Griffin in return for #44.
Why didn't we get in on that deal for our #42? It would've been a better use of our cap space than a Reggie Jackson rental for 3 future Nuggets seconds (likely to be in the 50s and pretty much worthless)..

Preparing for giving the Spurs 2 second rounders next season when the lotto pick doesn't convey

Damn, the going rate for 5 million cap relief (with tax implications) is 3 unprotected 2nd round picks.
So this is what the owners meant when they broadcast their willingness to eat money for draft capital. They're buying cheap draft capital and rationing out cap space in small share blocks.
I really hope the plan is to absorb Cam Johnson for something similar.
Big difference between 5 million purchase and 25 million purchase.
If Reggie Jackson stays, it means no pursuit of Melton in free agency.

So by trading pick 13 for NSJ, instead of drafting Griffin (as some clamored) we ended up with NSJ instead of pick 44 in the 2024 draft.
NSJ >>>>

I hope he stays with the Hornets all year. He's a culture setter. The guy never quits. Doesn't matter if his entire team does.
That said, it adds another contract for matching purposes in a larger transaction down the road.
Bundle with Bertans, or Martin or Richards, or Micic. These spare parts start to add up.
Maybe you can squeeze out a Cam Johnson.

I hate Ugly Jackson, but he's better than Micic as a backup.

I think we should try to flip him again as an expiring straight away if possible as we now have waaaaay too many guards with Melo, Micic, Mann, Jackson, Curry, NSJ, Bailey, Martin and Simpson. Just about the end of McGowens for sure now.
Either way he's traded or bought out on or before the trade deadline for sure.
3 secondround picks for only taking on $5.25 million in salary is good value for us though. Too early to conclude they will all be late second round picks too.
