Awful signing. Hes seven years older than Biz and a much worse player at this point.

Locker room vet presence. This is what we’ve been needing for a long time, a long long time.

Completely disagree, we needed a 3rd center. That’s a spot that is not dependent to give big minutes, there’s not much you can do with that. Plus, you don’t want to blow big money there. Lastly, we have a grown up in the locker room. That was hugely needed.

Given the market, I think this was the right play. He really should only be playing in case of emergency because Mark-Nick-Grant-Salaun can all spend time at center. We also might get a younger interesting 3rd center we can hide on a two way like Stephens or Gueye.

This is probably with a view to an assistant coaching position eventually, I’d imagine?

I would have preferred they sign Biz or someone who was a better shooter, but he's an end of the bench veteran mentor that should hopefully not see the court that much. So hard to be that negative about this. He's also a Thibodeau guy through and through so he's going to show our young guys how a real pro works.

Why not. Assuming Achiuwa goes back to NYK, we're really looking at G League level guys. For instance, watching Orlando Robinson and Moses Brown last night made me think Biz it-iz. I don't think Taj will bring much to the court at all - Biz seems to have made more sense in that regard - but I also don't know a lot about Taj as a person. He might be huge as a locker room, end of bench guy.

there are worse uses of a 15th roster spot, I'm in. Wouldn't mind him playing over Nick Richards on his bad nights lol

I don’t think you can ever have a truly bad signing for a guy that is at the very end of your roster.

I have been wanting Taj Gibson on this team for a decade. Pure locker room vet presence.

Did you ignore the part about him being a mentor/leader?

Taj is a Udonis Haslem type. He's here to help change the culture not play games.

Yep that's how I see it eventually playing out.

He's a good veteran, we've needed one of these. On the court? Not very useful at this point of his career.

I think I’ve seen enough Biz for my life, Taj is fine

Hes 100% unplayable, even as a last resort emergency option. He appeared in 20 games last season at 38 years old. He had a 5.9 PER, shot 40.5% from the field, and pretty much averaged as many personal fouls as points.

This is a complete waist of a roster spot and if they brought him in to be an assistant coach hes being drastically overpaid for that service.

My man we did not sign him to be a key rotational piece. This is about teaching the young in practice how to be professional and how to lead a team. This is not about playing time.

Think there's two trains of thought happening here. We had two roster slots. One has gone to Taj as a mentor. If the other goes to someone playable, we've done very well.
