Interesting
Mark can have a Duke buddy to keep him company in street clothes during games.

We'll probably only keep one of him or Diabate. Seems weird to keep both of them.

Looks like he's got a nice stroke from outside, that's Diabate and Giles with abit of outside game.

Does anyone know what injuries he's had in the past seasons?

he's done ACLs in both knees.

Giles has been through such injury hell — multiple knee surgeries, including a torn ACL that saw him cut by the Clippers last year — it’s easy to forget he’s still just 25.

Before playing for the Nets this preseason, he hadn’t seen NBA action since a two-minute cameo for Portland on May 24, 2021.

I'm guessing he's shown the same work ethic and attitude the front office is looking for.

When I saw him play in HS back in 2015 I thought he’d be the best player in the country one day. Funny how things change.

Giles was once upon a time, a top big man prospect. I remember seeing him with Mark, Brandon and Lee at the Celtics finals game so it's not surprising they brought him into camp. I also respect that they're looking for C depth because I strongly do not believe Nick is a good enough C2.

I remember that as well. He was getting compared to Bosh and KG and was seen as a lock to go number 1 in the draft. He's had a really rough go of things since then. It's to his credit that he hasn't given up and is still grinding to stay in the league.

And I strongly question if Mark is even ready for full court drills. There is more hopium in the Hornet’s offices relative to our projected starting center than real confidence IMO.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Let's be real, Nick Richards is our starting center until proven otherwise

If Richards is still the center then the front office must still be purposely tanking this year. We could have signed several decent FA centers or just drafted Clingan if we KNOW Mark is still hurt and wanted to be decent anyway. Maybe that is the plan. Or we may know he is actually A-OK and we got TJ instead to eventually replace Miles OR they are just incompetent. Last regime, it would have been that but I really hope that it's option A or B now.

if Mark is still out, we're tanking anyway whether we want to or not
