Imagine if we got a first from this. Wonder if they trade us one of their rookies?

one thing I see here is that the Knicks need to send out like $9M+... I don't see how they do that without trading Mitchell Robinson. not getting my hopes up but Richards for Robinson with a small contract going from us to MIN so we can match salaries would be such a huge win.

and yes i know trading Richards for an injured C when Mark is already injured is a bad move, but let's be real if Mark is out for any length of time we're losing with Richards anyway.

Count me as feeling s#’+ on by this. Jeffries? A complete dump of a player and yet ANOTHER GUARD. Draft picks? Show me the money, as in two firsts, or it’s BS. Send away Richards also? That’s completely f#%&$@ up. If the Hornets are telling us that this season is being blown up for development, THEN SPIT IT OUT RIGHT NOW. If Mark can’t go full bore, and I frankly don’t expect him to be in more than 35 games, you’re now leaning on Taj and trash to handle the 5. So now you can watch the rookie instead of Clingan helping out a depleted center position.

Feel the love fans….
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Sure hope that what Charlotte aquires isn't centered around Daquan Jefferies. These complicated trades usually takes days to sort itself out so I'll wait til Monday to start Panicking.

As long as we get another asset for taking him on and we just cut him, I'm totally fine with that.

yeah really anything we get out of this is a bonus, i just hope we use our leverage to get something more than a pick in the 50s, if the Robinson scenario isn't happening

did you just use us facilitating a trade and getting draft compensation for it as a way to bring up not drafting Clingan again?

that's...something.

Yeah I’m not going to freak out until I see this finalized. Their outgoing salary doesn’t add up even with a big contract for Jeffries, so they’ll either have to include another asset or get a 4th team involved.

If we could somehow swing a protected first out of this I’d be overjoyed

I’m an abused Hornets fan filled with NBAPTSD, so such reports are naturally going to trigger me. I fully expected Williams to not be back to health, or return to anything close to his brief flashes of potential. Why? No video, no evidence he was better, no declarative statements from coaches other than “trying”, or “hoping”, etc. That told me everything. So it pisses me off that this front office flippantly placed butterflies and puppy dog hope in his complete return, thereby NOT drafting either Clingan, Edey or the center likely to be the best of all of them, Ke’lel Ware. Could have traded back and received assets as well, but NOPE…had to draft the wonder frenchie. Now we’re signing worthless former “somebody’s” in “HOPE” that we have depth behind an ancient Taj and possibly WITHOUT Richards since they are hell bent on trading him to the Knicks for salt shakers and two tickets to a broadway play.

No, I am SICK AND TIRED of trying to hang in there as a lifelong Hornets fan when they keep doing stupid s#*+. Think Miller is going to be OK with this squad tanking via no bigs? He’s already got enough people pushing him to prepare his exit ramp from CLT. Thank God he was one player being a leader and calling out lazy crap.

I’ve been a Hornets fan since before they were born. Went to everything I could to support getting a franchise. Was at the huge December home win season one against Jordan’s Bulls. I’ve cheered, have hearing loss possibly from so many of those high decibel crowds, walked the high roads and the rutted ones, said goodbye, then said hello again to Bobcats, same treadmill, greeted our Hornet’s return, yearned, groaned, and then some. I’ve been slapped, lied to, told to trust the process, told it is a “new day”, watched draft debacles left and right…you name it. SO…we get a new front office, and a new coach, which is exciting, to go with a great pick in Miller, with “hope” for a return of key HEALTHY players. So Williams looking like he’s ceramic not steel, and of course our drafting ignored the help we needed.

So yes I’m venting, and thanks to all for hearing me out, or at least understanding.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I don't get the complaints, would people rather we didn't get involved as a 3rd team in the trade where at worst we get a 2nd rounder or 2 or at best a 1st. Ok they possibly throw in a player we'll probably release anyway but I really don’t see a negative outcome.

If Mark can't stay healthy acquiring assets is essential to trade for a replacement. There have been multiple occasions where a Jarret Allen like player became available and we didn't have the assets to get it done.

Perhaps, but with the number of picks one has to give up to get a major player, can you see this team doing that any time soon? Nope, we have to HIT on our draft picks so every first rounder has impact. We had a pick right there in our lap to solidify the 5, and skipped it. If Mark is an injury bust we’re set back AGAIN, unless another highly rated center magically lands available in our next draft.

What if our only compensation for helping teams beat us better is the nobody Jeffries and a second round pick from a playoff team? No way to spin it..that sucks.

You could say Frenchie is Miles insurance just as much as Clingan being Mark insurance.

Just distill it down to being a huge Clingan fan

I hate when parts of deals get announced and we have to wait a long time to figure out how we're involved, would rather not know at all until the deal is fully baked.

Return to Charlotte Hornets
